Memorial Day, a day we honor the men and women who have given the last full measure that we might enjoy freedom. May we honor them by living each day with purpose, and never taking for granted the freedom they bought us at the price of their own lives. And may we never dishonor them, either by forgetting, or surrendering those freedoms.

(The soldier here is a Union soldier named Sam. He enlisted when he was 18, in 1863, with his brother. Sam made it home, but his brother never did. He was just one of an estimated 620,000 who died in the Civil War alone.)
