Description On the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month of 1918, WWI ended.

A special thanks to all our Veterans! Thank you for our Freedom!

God bless our troops overseas!

Happy Veterans Day!

This poster is based on my grandfather's WWI Service poster. My grandfather, Floyd Noble Henderson served with the 80th Infantry Division, 317th Infantry Regiment. He was wounded in the Battle of the Argonne in October of 1918. [link]

This much is true. I remember using the statement "The sun with never shine in Pittsburgh... ever again" many times. And it was sooo true. Heh.

It's cold and damp, typical Pittsburgh weather sad to say.

In my country, Poland, the day of end of the First World War is also our Independence Day.

Especially when it is an anniversary of regaining independence after over one hungered years of slavery under three empires. [link] We are very glad, that President Wilson had mentioned our right to exist in his famous fourteen point programme for peace.

It's just too bad that Poland had Germany on one side and the Russia on the other. The part of Western Pennsylvania that I live in has a large Polish American population and they are the nicest people. America's steel industry in Pittsburgh was built on the backs of Polish steel workers. One of Americas greatest Aces of WWII was a polish American from Western Pennsylvania named Francis "Gabby" Gabreski [link] He is one of my personal heroes!
May Poland never suffer the yoke of foreign rule and always be free!

Thanks! No, as I mentioned in the description, this is based on my grandfather's WWI Service poster. What I did was, shoot a digital photo of it, retouch out all the type and replace it with new type. The original illustrations was done by an artist named Dan Smith. I tried to find some info on him, but I couldn't find anything about him. I really love his style.

*salutes* I don't think any of my relatives served in WWI, but that doesn't matter. My grandfather and his brother both served in WWII, and my mother is also a retired veteran. They helped make our country what it is today. Happy Veteran's Day, and good job on the poster.
