may i ask did you go to art school? I plan on going and i was curious if you were self- taught. my goal is to end up with art as detailed and amazing as this.

Yes I went to art school. I don't know how are the art schools in the States though. I'm from Quรฉbec, Canada, and here it's kinda different. I did 2 years of College in art, then 3 years of University. But I must say that any "technical skills" that I have, they were self-taught. There wasn't any specific oil painting technique classes in the programs, which is a damn shame if you ask me! Basically, they teach you more how to achieve a piece of art and learning to be a critique, evaluate what works, what doesn't and why. They teach you to be an artist, but not on the technical level. Well I did have a few classes that were more "technical", but it wasn't very thorough.
So basically, you can say I'm an autodidact when it comes to oil painting, as well as digital painting. Not that I haven't learn anything from art school, just, not in a technical way. So I guess it's up to you to look at the programs that the different art schools have. But you probably should ask this question to someone who went to an art school in the USA.
