Description
Another piece commissioned by Phil VelasquezHe provided a short blurb to explain the story behind the picture:
"A greedy princess Jennifer thought there was gold in a chest and so one night she stole it from the royal bedchamber of the king and queen! With a hammer and chisel she broke the padlock after many tries and out floated a satyr mask and pan flute. The princess realized that the treasure chest was the prison for the entity that existed in the satyr mask! The evil entity approached the frightened princess and taking off her crown, reshaped it into a golden unicorn's horn! The entity then placed the unicorn horn on the princess's forehead, The princess tried to pull off the horn but it would not move. The evil entity used the magic of the pan flute to dissolve the princess's clothes! And now the entity is transforming the princess into a unicorn and once the transformation is complete, the evil entity will cause chaos throughout the kingdom, the princess being the first victim!"
There's a subtle texture in there that I used that I got from

Reminds me of when the main character in The Last Unicorn went from human back to a unicorn again

Love the body, quite exotic sexy body as she undergoes her transformation.
I think the background/foreground are quite exotic as well, almost reminds of the color animation films of the early 1930s and 1940s. Only because of the colors and lighting that are used in the artwork, you very rarely see that in films anymore. (Yep, I love old animation films )
Good story too! This would make for a good short film based on your color artwork That mask is a definite plus in the story and artwork, its the key that makes all come together as invisible hands play the pan flute.
Hmm, perhaps she is too scared to run away, or deep inside she has a desire to become a unicorn and she will take the transformation as far has she dares and then run away!
Regardless I approve of the artwork!

Thanks! I love old animation as well Yeah, I wanted indeed to give it an older, more classic feeling which is why I went with the brown/gold-ish color scheme. I'm glad that you think it works

That looks awesome! I really like the floating mask and pipes. Really nice job with the expression of surprise, and the shading! ^_^d

Hi, so happy to see her finished! Great atmosphere it adds so much to the scene we are seeing! As ever, nicely done coloring, love the way you have the light of the her horn lighting the scene on herself, and the lighting from mask. I like the way you choose a dark color for the mask, errie/scary look. I like also the way you are showing her transformation too, not advanced but enough to let us know what she is turning into, love those hooves and tail! Nicely done body too by the way, you do not disappoint
And you captured her face so well too
I love how the light is leaving the treasure chest, the chest is nicely lit up!
You have my thumbs up approval! Hope to send more projects your way

Thanks Phil, I'm glad you like it! Yeah, I wanted to try something different with the coloring so I took inspiration from Baroque and Renaissance paintings for the color palette. I'm glad you like it! Looking forward to doing more stuff for you

She's close in looks to a D&D character I played for over a year - she's a half-unicorn, half-elf. Much fun, although my gal got to keep her hands.
Being a unicorn would be rather nice, actually.

Very cool, and an interesting idea. Compliments to both the artist and the one behind the idea.

Love this. The story behind it is neat, too. Is this the same commissioner as the one for the latex mermaid?

Thanks! Yes, it's the same guy who commissioned the latex mermaid (and most of my mermaid art, actually!)

Okay, the first thing that popped into my head was:
"Going to the bathroom will be hard with hooves as hands." <.<
I am so weird. xD
This, however, is wicked! I love the wispiness of the entity. :3

Wow. I don't even know where to begin with how much I love this piece. The transformation itself almost looks plausible, especially where the arms and tail meet the torso. The lighting is wonderful although I gotta say I'm a sucker rim lighting...so a plus there! And in my opinion, the best part is the way you really captured this moment in the story.
I can't wait to see more of your illustrations. Keep up the great work!

Thanks so much! It was a bit of a challenge indeed since I'm not very experienced in drawing transformations in progress ^^

I think this is my favorite piece out of all my favorites you've done! I love fantasy based art (like all your wow stuff) but ever since I was a little girl I have been fascinated with unicorns and pegasus! I saw this waiting for me on my messages and proceeded to gasp so loud in joy that my cats ran for fear out of the room and I scared the pants off my fiancee.
I love the story that goes with the image, and I think that the way you portrayed the image tells a very important part of the story as well, there's so much symbolism! (Not sure if it's intentional or not, but it fits so well!)
Thank you for sharing this piece!

Hahaha wow. I'm so glad you like it that much! Haha I have to say that the symbolisms that you see are purely accidental, yet I'm really glad that one can read further into it that way. Thanks!

When I saw this on my DeviantWatch messages, I could have swore that the unicorn princess looked Felicia from Darkstalkers.
Aside from that, this is awesome! =]
