Just something I have in the works! It's still just a rough sketch with rough colors as of now

I wanted to hold off on showing Meiles' voodoo magic until I can properly introduce it in the comics, but since I'm going sooo sooo sooooooooo slow in getting those out... well, here's a big jump in the timeline

This happens in a later story arc, just a bit after he and Yarifeth have established their... uh... for lack of a better word, "romantic" relationship. It follows Yari's development into a shadow priest and segways into the introduction of Meiles' big brother Muk'tal. This scene shows the first glimpse of why Meiles' brand of voodoo is banned in the Horde.

I don't really consider myself a writer, but I like to write out the key scenes in my storylines. So juuuuuuuust in case somebody's interested... I thought I'd share it for once. So here you go. Or just skip it, haha!

In the distance, Meiles could see another wave of mercenaries heading towards them. More than he or Yarifeth could handle. Behind them was a difficult escape route full of fire and collapsing structures. They wouldn't escape fast enough to reach the next stronghold in time.

The little elf gulped as her glances shifted rapidly from Meiles to the incoming warriors and back to the troll again. "W-w-what are we going to do?"

"We be havin' no choice, Pet," he grimaced. "Dis be all because o' yer stubborness. Da warchief be havin' our heads if he be findin' out wat I'm about ta do. Here," he said, as he threw the smaller of his axes to her. "Chop me a head. Must be Horde. Quick!"

"WHAT???"

"DO IT! NOW!" he roared as he himself reached for the nearest fallen Horde warrior and chopped off the orc's head. "What are you waiting for?"

"I can't!"

"Yes, you can!"

"No I can't!"

"DO IT!"

Finally at his bark Yarifeth obeyed and chopped off the head of a nearby troll, shrieking as she did so. Meiles reached over and threw it towards a relatively clear space on the ground. "Get another! Quick!"

First time is always the hardest. She was able to do it easier the second time around. And the third. When they both collected six heads between them, Meiles pulled her towards the clearing where he threw the severed heads. Quickly he arranged them in a semi-circle in front of him as they faced towards the incoming enemies.

"Ya gotta listen ta me, and listen good, a'right?" he said sternly, giving her a glare of utmost seriousness. He slashed at his wrists with the blade of his axe and thick blood came flowing out. With a thick finger he picked some up and painted a stripe of it across his eyes, then did the same to hers. "I be doin' dis wit' no proper protection other dan me own blood. No charms, no talismans, nothin'! Without da proper materials I can't be controllin' dese spirits properly. But dis be our only chance."

"W-w-what is?" Yarifeth asked, trying hard not to let the panic well inside her.

"I be takin' da souls of our fallen comrades. Turn dem into vengeful, hungry spirits. Dey be wanting to devour every living 'ting in dis area. Including us."

"But--!"

"Da bond dat we have as fellow soldiers of da Horde may reduce da harm dey be doin' to us", Meiles interrupted. He held a bloody finger across her eyes, holding them closed and painting them with more blood. "Da spell be cast wit' me blood, it be offerin' us a little protection, at least. Da eyes be da window to da soul. Don' be openin' dem, no matter wat. Don' let dem in." He paused, still keeping his hand over her eyes, hoping to calm her down. "Hold on to me. They be comin' over ya, dey be tryin' to eat your soul. Ya be bleeding through your pores as dey try ta suck your soul from your body. But whatever ya hear, and whatever pain ya feel, don't let go of me. Ya understand? Don' let go!"

Yarifeth bit her lower lip as she forced courage into herself and nodded determinedly.

"Good," he said, as he stood up. "Remember, as long as ya keep yer eyes closed, dey can't get to ya." He patted her head as he felt her shuffle close and embrace one of his legs. "Pray, Pet. Pray to yer light. If yer light can keep us healed, keep us from losin' too much blood, den I t'ink we can live through dis."

Meiles brought the axe into his wrists again and slashed deeply down both of his forearms, causing blood to rush forth. He threw the axe back and brought his bleeding arms in front of him, allowing the deep red liquid to spill in by the heads of the fallen Horde warriors, as he recited his incantations.

"Here dey come..."
