I didn't see the subtle variations on the head spikes right away - any reason these sketches don't show his namesake Chaos Emerald shard in his chest ?

B: Full body reference without his accessories, he is a robot after all, and it's not a major deal if Tracy drew him "nude"

It's like a cross between Metal Sonic from Heroes (Which makes sense, because he's part of a Metal Sonic Trooper, right?) and Metal Sonic 3.0 From Sonic Rivals 2. AND the Archie Metal Sonic with the arm cannon. AND the current version of Metal Sonic...
Wow, he's like a mixmatch of every single Metal Sonic made, collected and built into one powerful model. That's REALLY AWESOME actually!!!!!

Shard is a great character! I actually really didn't like him at first, but, what can I say? He grew on me!

personally I was really happy to see the "original" Metal Sonic come back. I also think it was a brilliant idea to give him the Metal Sonic Mk 3 color scheme as a nod to the Rivals game.

Shard is awesome. Glad you decided to go for the first one. I think the name "Shard" works better for him... Because after all, isn't he powered by that Shard in his chest?

Shard is great. He's his own character, not just any Metal Sonic. I love his design as well, how that power gem reflects his "mode".

I guess it's to do with the Chaos Emerald fragment (shard) in his chest which powers this character (funnily enough these sketches don't show the shard in his chest - instead sporting a more standard Metal Sonic body).

I knew that the Secret Freedom Fighters were based on the Rivals suits, and I did kinda think that Shard resembled Metal 3.0 but now after putting 2 and 2 together... He WAS based off 3.0's design wasn't he? to fit the whole Rivals think right?

Great concept for the spikes here Mister Yardley, of course my most favorite is NΒΊ 1 which is also used as the curent design.
Also, It was a good choice that the final result got called Shard, Cinos would be a pretty bad name for such awesome character, very overused and wouln't just showcase the real beauty of the character.

I'm so glad it's not Cinos. So glad. I think Shard is eadger and fits his personality more. Shards are dynamic items with many sides. Shard, himself, is like that since he out did his programing. He has many sides to him. I'm very anxious to see them too.
