This is their first meeting. Clarke and her people are seen as invading forces. They do not mean any harm to Lexa and her clan, but because of unpreventable circumstances, Clarke's people were in desperate need of a new home. The only territory available was already claimed by Lexa's clan, though they did not know this. This has caused Lexa to view Clarke as a trespasser, and Lexa has sent soldiers to defend her territory. Clarke has retaliated. It has come to a point where the fighting is becoming more and more violent, so war seems to be looming. They both wish to avoid this so they, being the leaders of their clans, decide to meet and discuss options.
