Description
Somewhere here in DeviantArt LucaDeflorian decided to draw random prehistoric animals. It was done through one unusual way, by hitting random page in a Fandom wikia known as Dinopedia (link: dinopedia.fandom.com/wiki/Main… ). The animals that you receive randomly you will have to draw them. These are the ones that I ended up with:1. Brachycormus sp. is an extinct amphibian, mostly regarded as a salamandrid, that lived in Europe, 29-15 million years ago in the Oligocene-Miocene epochs. It was a very small aquatic amphibian, which, in tough conditions, when in the larval stage, could reach to sexual maturity and breed, so that the species can survive in difficult changes of the climate. Because it is too small, Brachycormus is just a speck. But I can describe the coloration to you: it is orange-brown with a darker-grey tail, and grey spots on its back.
2. Adelolophus hutchisoni is an early hadrosaurid, that lived 78 million years ago in Utah. It is regarded as the earliest lambeosaurine hadrosaur, so it might have had a small hollow crest on its head which would have been colourful and would work as a ressonating chamber to make sounds. It was a herbivore as evidenced by the numerous batteries of teeth it has on its jaws to grind the plant material it fed on. To reconstruct this dinosaur I made sure that it would look both like an early basal hadrosaur but I wanted to give it a few key features unique to this animal. We only know its lower jaw, so the rest is speculative. I reconstruct it with a dark grey, reminiscent of modern large mammals (such as rhinos), a common colour pattern. I added some faint dark-brown stripes on the neck and back, such as wildebeests and a white tail striped with black (don't worry about the tail, this is not its normal position, its just resting it a little bit down) The eyes are strong red, based on Saurian's Anatosaurus, and just general taste. The crest colouration is based on the hooded seal and frigatebirds, which use large protuberances made in red to atract females, which I believe would be fitting for a large animal. I added a large wattle in its neck, based on some cattle.
3. Yanornis martini is a songlingornithid, relative of modern birds. It still retains toothed jaws and it still has some claws protruding out of the wing, but nevertheless still looks like a bird. Yanornis lived 125-120 million years ago in China. Its long toothed bill was specifically adapted to hunt fish and other aquatic fauna. It was perfectly capable of flight, useful to move above the swampy environment it lived in. Yanornis colouration was based on modern freshwater hunters of the avian world. The general brown colour would resemble those of fishing owls and accipitriformes, which would be around Yanornis size. However, I added green feet, like in modern waders and a blue-orange tail, reminiscent of colourful kingfishers.
