Description Ep.08: Nothing like Mom's Dinner

Already with two and a half years old, Panza and her siblings continue to patrol the lands of the Djadochta with an increased confidence every day, as they understand the world around them more and more. Typical of Protoceratops, they never stop wandering across the arid lands in search of new fodder. The desert is unforgiving, so being static is unwise. The babies learn and recognize the pathways of their brethren and, with this, they learn more and more what are the safest places to find food, water and shelter. As the mother munches on a piece of vegetation, Panza munches also on a few leaves that mom herself still has on her mouth, before she chews through her battery of grinding teeth. Adapted for tough desert vegetation, protoceratopsids are great at surviving in arid landscapes, granting a diversity in this group of ceratopsians. Not so far away, the male Bagaceratops feeds on the same foliage. Recognizing what is good to eat will be a fundamental lesson for Panza, and will grant her a great capacity of survival for the following years of her life.
