Description
This very pretty picture was a suggestion I made to amiwakawaiidesu , based on an idea I have for a story set in my Powerpuff Girl's "Family AU". The characters present are Bree (Brianna), daughter of Buttercup and Robyn; Poppy (Penelope), Professor Utonium's late wife; and Bea (Beatrice), his late daughter. Yup, they're actually both deceased in the present - but Bree uses her grandfather's time portal machine to go back. The full plotline of the story as I have fleshed it out so far, is this:

Poppy and Bea are enjoying some mother-daughter bonding time at the mall, and John is coming to meet them there for lunch, but ultimately he runs into delays when a monster comes into Townsville and starts causing chaos and destroying stuff (as often happens in Townsville) and gets there too late.

Meanwhile, before the chaos, Brianna arrives. She's too young to pretend to be "passing through" Townsville on her own, but a 13yo alone in a mall is in no way unusual. Having been told by Sandra that Poppy loved listening to buskers at the mall, Brianna took her panpipes with her and tries to perform; her nerves get the better of her and her performance falters - until a little girl dressed similar to Minnie Mouse (Bea) runs up to put a dollar in her hand.

Although Brianna's power is reading emotions, it's quite limited (not like, say, Troi in Star Trek Next Gen); she can only read the feelings of someone else through physical contact (skin to skin), and it's not "always on". As a generally quiet, rather reserved girl in public, Brianna feels using her power is an invasion of privacy, so she only uses it a) when helping to fight supervillains, b) when she has the other person's permission, or c) when her own emotions get the better of her and cause it to activate by accident. That last one is what happens here, when she realises the little girl putting the dollar in her hand is Bea. Bea's happiness flows through Bree, her nerves vanish and her performance improves beyond belief.

After she finishes the song (or maybe even a set), Bree lets the little girl (who she realises is her aunt xD) introduce her to Poppy. They talk, and Bree isn't very good at concealing the truth, and lets a few things slip out accidentally - that she's related to them, and from the future. She tries and fails not to cry, and Poppy's motherly instincts easily figure out why. Cue the monster.

As the mall begins to collapse around them Bree - knowing that John later identifies Poppy's body but Bea's was never found - tries to get them both out while still not revealing her powers (worried that she may still affect the future more than she already has) and back to the time portal, which is in a corner of the park across the street. A beam falls, pinning Poppy to the floor, and Bree does the only thing she can do - start lifting the beam off Poppy (she has powers, but it's still really heavy and there's more coming down from the upper storeys. She tries to play it off as hysterical strength). They hear a scream from Bea, who has been picked up by the monster - Poppy instinctively runs forward....and is effortlessly swatted by the monster, landing impaled on a broken steel girder. She begs Bree to save her daughter, and the final thing she sees is the young girl taking off into the sky to fight the monster, eyebeams blazing.

Realising that she can't beat the monster on her own, Bree leads it to the time portal. Somehow, despite being way too big for this to logically work (it's a time portal after all), it squeezes through anyway, and back in the present day Bree, her little sister and their cousins fight the monster together and successfully defeat it, before realising it was still carrying little Bea in its claw.

And there you have it - for now at least. Hopefully someday I'll turn this into a proper story to add to the Family AU. I also have another idea which would kick off a separate Powerpuff AU (tantalisingly entitled the "Goddess AU"), but I'll keep that under wraps for now.
