My second custom pony mod, Browncoat Applejack! Base is a G4 Applejack. Her mane, tail, hat and coat are made of Stonex self-hardening clay and she's painted with acrylics.

Applejack without her freckles? Applejack without her Stetson? What were the Hasbro toy designers thinking!? I had to fix this.

I went into this customization knowing that I would restore Applejack's trademark freckles, hat, and hairstyle, but I wanted to do something more special for one of my favorite pony characters. I had seen this piece of fanart depicting Applejack as a Confederate soldier (here: [link] ) and I thought it was a cool idea, but I wasn't really comfortable with the Confederate imagery.

Instead, I made Applejack a Browncoat, from Firefly! Not only is Firefly an awesome show, but the Independents/Browncoats are sort of Confederates reimagined IN SPACE (and also they oppose slavery). I think Applejack's personality lends itself well to the Browncoat ideals of independence and self-governance, and her coloring matches the Independents' insignia nicely. The green triangle with the yellow stripes and black star, shown where her cutie mark would be if she weren't wearing her coat, makes a few brief appearances in Firefly during the flashback scenes (in the pilot, it's what Mal pulls off the sleeve of the dead commander to obtain his authorization codes). I don't feel great about the brown texturing on her hair, but it's too late to change it now. In Applejack's promotional pictures, she has these great, sultry, "come hither" eyes that I tried to recreate on this doll.

I'm not sure how much overlap there is between the viewers of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Firefly, but hopefully my Applejack customization will please fans of both these excellent shows. Applejack fights for the Independents! She won't take any guff from those scumbag Alliance purple-bellies! (No offense, Twilight Sparkle )
