Roman art was heavily influenced by the Greek. But on top of the aesthetic aspect, Roman art had practical and political purposes. More than great artists, the Romans were especially great engineers. Architecture was the field where they most excelled. The Pantheon, one of the most important buildings from Ancient Rome, is almost 2000 years old and it's still in use as a Catholic church.

Well, this work is way out of my comfort zone. I used to draw landscapes and architecture when I was a teenager, but over time I ended up neglecting this area and focusing almost exclusively on human figure. That's why my backgrounds are so poor. This drawing was a real pain in the a**, but I think it's about time that environment drawing stops being a drawback for me.
