Sometimes when it's convenient I find myself coming up with ideas for illustrations that I probably won't finish. "The Southern Kingdom" (working title) is a project idea I've had since about 2005 about a post-apocalyptic, dystopian type of setting where the elite rule from a floating island in the sky as they steal resources from those living under the barren surface of the crumbling empire.

The story itself starts when Sharm (who I've yet to establish a design for) stumbles into/is washed down to a city that managed to keep itself hidden from the rest of the empire. His arrival brings all sorts of trouble and shenanigans to Mele (our protagonist) and the city when they're discovered and the empire attempts to aggressively "integrate" them into their way of life.
