Description
Ok, so he didn't ask if I was dancing, but he did comment on my technique being very prettySo after a year's down time from martial arts I started last Tuesday on Jiu-jutsu, yay!! (since there is a lack of aikido clubs here, I had to find something else.) But after four years of aikido training I had a hard time not doing footwork and movements like aikido, and that usually look very fluid and like a person in dancing. It's weird starting from scratch again...
Also i will need to find a new name for these strips. I can't very well keep calling them aikicomics if they are not about aikido anymore...

Hmm... I was thinking more like a word play on Jiu-jutsu, like aikicomics was.

Hahaha, my boyfriend actually has the opposite problem xD He just started aikido, but has been doing HEMA (historical european martial arts) for the past four years. We fall break like judoka's, so we slap the ground hard and actually make quite the noise when we fall. Everyone at the aikido club looked at him like he should have broken a bone xD

Haha! Yea! In aikido the less noise you make the less you hurt yourself, which I have also discovered after my secound Jiu-jutsu lesson that I fall very silently compared to the others that almost makes a competition in slamming the mat the hardest xD also their falls seems very energy inefficient compared to what I'm used to. They stat down while I'm used to use the force to get back up immidiately. It really is something very different.

Yeah, it's kinda weird how techniques can differ so much! I like to roll a bit after falling, when possible, and that helps me to get up. But often after someone throws me, I indeed come to a complete halt on the floor. Sadly I don't have time to take up another sport (aready have two xD), otherwise I definitely would try out aikido, it sounds very efficient indeed!

It is, really, if you need to use force, you are probably doing it wrong in aikido xD it is the lazy Man's and the pacifists martial art.

I like that one. It's funny how into it someone can get... But, I bet you would be pretty graceful as you beat the crap out of someone. Just... don't do it to me... I've been attacked enough to last a lifetime... Anyway, great job.

Thanks! Don't worry, I never hit first. Unless you really deserve it, and even then no worries since I can't hit if my life depened on it...

You're welcome. Right... I figured that much. I just hope I don't piss you off somehow... otherwise, I might be a dead man... Then again, I'm used to being attacked to the point that I can't move forward without watching my back.

It's a pity you can't find an Aikido dojo nearby... But maybe you can get a good teacher to do a seminar.

I have thought about the semniars etc. My old dojo also encouraged me to try and start my own aikido dojo, but I don't think I can make either work. I love aikido, but I want it as a way of keeping in shape on a weekly basis, and I don't have the energy or experience to make a dojo myself (plus I'm not even dan graduated). I worry that if I go to seminars I would just be reminded about how out of shape I am, and that I wouldn't be able to keep up my level, because I don't get the required practice in.

I understand, but aikido is way more than physical movements of the body, so go to those seminars and enjoy!

It's also about economy. It would be very expensive to go to seminars all the time and the logistics of traveling and finding place to sleep during etc. It would just turn into a stress factor rather than fun.
