It's been a really long time.. (so sorry guys)I have been away from deviantART for quite some time I'm not dead!! I have a lot of things to work on in my life and also have been working on tons of projects with different mediums and some personal assignments. (I'm still doing digital art tho! There's more to come but I plan to upload some of my old photography works here first)
This photograph just won the first place of the Sony World Photography Awards 2015 - Youth Environment category, and I thought of sharing it over here! Hope you guys like it. It's the back alley of my grandmother's house in Alor Setar..

I can see why it won. I usually go right from the opening page to my messages, but I had to go back to see this, and I am glad I did. The colors are just so vibrant, even the purplish sky and stars. The differing textures of vegetation, metal, and asphalt, all intermixed in free-for-all that somehow manages to be chaotic and orderly at the same time.
I like that your subject is not the ordinary scene, but one that is really true to life. I felt as though I had just walked out someone's back door and was going to go through the alley to get back to the street.
I have spent some time in Southeast Asia an this brought back memories as well. I can almost close my eyes and smell the aromas of the flowers, wet pavement, cooking, and hear a television, radio, or even a baby crying.
What appears to be a second alley across the street almost makes you think of the effect you get when you have two mirrors facing each other. The wires and antennas seem like the natural extension of the plants rising from the ground and into the sky.
A most wonderful photograph. Would you mind if I put it on my laptop as my wallpaper for July (I change it every month)?
I think this may be only my second perfect score on the ratings. Perhaps a professional photographer might be able to find some fault in it, but I cannot. That you won the first place prize in the Sony competition makes me feel that I am not going out on a limb with these scores.

congrats for the DD this photo is very very very beautiful..
the purple gradation of the starry sky is absolutely gorgeous..
even the foreground color(?) takes the hint of purple.. complementing the color of the sky perfectly..
the urban setting is very clean.. the matte color perhaps masking the sign of age without lessen the signs of living.
i wonder how could you take one?

The place is originally like that... that's the special part about this backalley..I will post up a series of works I shot in this exact same place but different time (Which is my grandmother's house backalley) real soon.

yup it's a long exposure shot.. (you can refer to the EXIF data), I bracketed 3 - 30 seconds shots for this.
