Description
A little something I started drawing yesterday - on my depression slumpI don't really know what happened. Originally, it was jus tsupposed to depict my OC, Rem crying but then the knife suddenly joined the picture and the tears morphed into cracks when he turned into a BJD instead of a human. Then the vines came along for effect. orz
And half assed BG is half assed. I just... don't know how to go about with them yet. I have to read those tutorials that Tsuna linked to me. But I will. In a moment. orz

I think the best ideas come out when you're not trying. You say you didn't start out wanting something like this, but you end up with what looks like an almost aware puppet that's been abandoned in some cave somewhere, and it's been waiting so long that there are dang vines coming for it. kinda sad. bravo.

the head looks really nice. Still need to work on anatomy. The hands are too small and hips a bit too thin. But still a nice drawing!

Ah thank you. I do need to work on my anatomy still although the hips are intended to be slim since he's a ball-jointed doll and those tend to have pretty skinny bodies. But yeah. Thanks a lot!

Sorry to hear you were going through a depression, but I'm glad you were able to turn it into art.
And the bg tutorials, just don't take as long as me to actually make use of them. x'D I must have read them a year ago, but still haven't done much with backgrounds.

Actually, I was thinking that the vines were adding to his restraint thus making him want to break himself even more but... granted the sloppy composition of this, everything can be freely interpreted.
And thanks. It sucks a lot but I'm happy that I had it a well because I rarely get bizarre ideas like this. Now if only I had more skills. orz

Yeah, my friend and I always talk about how anger and depression, mostly depression, tend to influence a great deal in art.
Can I recommend for when you do redo it, to have some sort of vine bush.. or maybe vines growing out of a hole in his stomach? /shot

I'll probably analyze it again when I feel like redrawing it. For now, I'm working on realism and butchering the faces of K- and J-idols
PFFFFFT. I swear my drawings look human but they are so far from looking like their actual subject //dies
Ah I've been a very depressing person even as a kid. I couldn't even count the times I thought that it's be better if I just died when I was in grade school. Thankfully, I'm catholic and studied in a Catholic school so although I've contemplated suicide at times, I've also always known that I won't be doing it any time soon.

I know I've thought about it too sometimes, but then I cry thinking about my family.
In early high school I used to say "I want to get shot in the head and miss." So that I would go into a coma, because I love sleep and then I wouldn't have to worry about leaving anybody behind. x'D I know it sounds stupid now though.

And I haven't really. I've only tried doing a decent self portrait (one that uses an actual reference/a mirror) once and... that was in third grade
Aah. But wouldn't that be painful for everyone till? Personally, I think it's more difficult when a family member is in life support rather than when he's dead since there's so much uncertainty. And then there's also the financial burden to think about... although I do understand you. Personally though I just wished that I'd just die since I've always doubted that anyone truly held my existence dear.

I don't mind noses if it's anime-ish style although I hate them when I have to draw them at full side view but that's normally not just because of the nose but because of the entire face contour.

Yeah profile view can be pretty difficult. I tend to place the eye in the wrong spot, always. And make the nose too long. xD
