Male Pinup Art WIPProgress Shot
Link
Ocarina of Time, Legend of Zelda
Here are the flat colors I'll be using for the USS Link drawing. It'll look pretty different when it's painted since all the lines will be gone, but this'll give you an idea of the colors in general

That's exactly how I feel about Link posing as an underwear model! I can tell he's been putting in some hefty work before modeling. I guess he has a lot of time to work out now that Zelda is safe, haha

It takes a lot of time, observation and practice. It helps a lot if you take art classes to build a solid foundation, particularly foundation drawing, life drawing; foundation drawing will get you started on line techniques, shading and values, then from there you take life drawing to learn how to draw people from the ground up. After that, you can learn the rest on your own time at your own pace via google and practice. Like, a lot of the progress I've made is from looking at photos and muscle diagrams to see where things go and whatnot, as well as flexed vs unflexed. Other useful things are learning head and hand measurements to help with general proportion. Also, research is very important. You gotta do research so you can double check to see if you're on track and if you're drawing it correctly. One thing you often don't see is the loads of research artists have done to draw something, and all you see is the end product and think they're super amazing, but they're super amazing thanks to the effort they put in researching as well. But yeah, it's like they say, practice makes perfect. Quality practice, though. Quality over quantity applies to that too (I hardly drew anything the past year and improved a lot anyway).

I am the kind of person who has pretty much switched to digital media but I am always drawing.Ā One thing about me that many do not like about my art is how it is in-between styles.Ā My anatomy and detail are great but I am no realist nor would I want to be a true realist.Ā I have always been more of an impressionist who drew mainly for himself and in a way my art is carefree.Ā I take into consideration both critiques and flat out slams but also because I almost do not care because my improvement is always very slow I just keep drawing anyway.Ā Usually for some reason tutorials and redraws do not tend to help me.Ā I learn by doing and looking, also my art has shifted since three years back when I was barely a good artist in my view.Ā I don't think I'll ever be a good artist which is fine since I'm not striving for it.Ā
