Description This week, we studied five stylized drawings of the female form by Fred Moore, one of Disney's greatest and most influential animators (along with Bill Tytla).  The fourth drawing is of Pauline, the "little girl who's lost her pearls", from Duck Pimples (1945), the most bizarre Donald Duck cartoon ever.  The first half of the assignment was simple enough: copy Moore's original drawing to the letter.  The second half was a bit more difficult: turn Moore's original drawing upside-down, and draw the figure likewise.  Fortunately, D.B. wasn't too harsh on our mistakes for the upside-down drawings, because this exercise is tough even for professional artists.

As with the centaurette, D.B. at first thought my upside-down drawing was the one I drew right-side-up!  Who could blame him; my proportions on the right-side-up ones were a little off.  The upside-down one came out a LOT better because I had paid more attention to the positive and negative shapes of Moore's original drawing.

(On an entirely unrelated note: during the live chat, D.B. used the Commonwealth term "bum" to refer to the detective's posterior, as opposed to the more American term "butt".  Call us puerile, but we found it funny and cute.)
