Description
This week, we studied five stylized drawings of the female form by Fred Moore, one of Disney's greatest and most influential animators (along with Bill Tytla). Here is the fifth and hardest drawing we studied. The first half of the assignment was simple enough: copy Moore's original drawing to the letter. The second half was a bit more difficult: turn Moore's original drawing upside-down, and draw the figure likewise. Fortunately, D.B. wasn't too harsh on our mistakes for the upside-down drawings, because this exercise is tough even for professional artists.I'm actually very proud of how the right-side-up copy came out! The upside-down one came out decently, too, even if the face is a little off.
After this exercise, I have a whole new appreciation for Fred Moore. He made what he did look so easy when it's really hard to do; it just came to him like breathing.
