Description "When you have once seen the glow of happiness on the face of a beloved person, you know that a man can have no vocation but to awaken that light on the faces surrounding him; and you are torn by the thought of the unhappiness and night you cast, by the mere fact of living, in the hearts you encounter."
- Albert Camus

I'm not too crazy about the background.
I might go back and fuss a little more...

This is my favorite Phantom picture of yours. I love the way he's looking so intently at her, and he's just holding her so lovingly...one could get diabetes by looking at this picture. I think it looks excellent, and I can't tell you how much I love it.

Thank you!
Even a mere touch like that could leave a lasting impression.
Especially to someone who was deprived of such affection unjustly.
If only...

But it was a lovely dream while it lasted.

Is it better to be loved than never to be loved at all? I don't think Erik would have ever regretted his love for Christine.

No, I suppose not.
Without her, he would have died cold and alone - a pale, worn and lonely ghost.
She made him a human of flesh and blood.

But then again, George Bernard Shaw once wrote: "There are two tragedies in life. One is not to get your heart's desire. The other is to get it."
Which is more tragic is up for a debate, I think...

Indeed, my friend. I believe that Erik truly knew what it was to live when he met her. One can hardly call a life without love a life at all and as delicate as life is, love hangs by so thin a thread that it is scarcely visible. If one looks hard enough and reaches out with a gentle hand, love will be there.

One of my favorite lines from K&Y's Phantom sums it up...

Erik: I was born, so she (Christine) can come and save me.

A "raison d'Γͺtre".
To have found someone who hold such a special place in your heart in itself is very precious, I think.

A touch, a caress, a kiss.
Happiness can be such a simple thing, yet Erik was denied of it because of his deformity.
It's so heartbreaking when you think about it - but a beautiful dream while it lasted...
Why, oh why couldn't Christine keep her hands to herself?

Thank you, love.

Trickster: Yah. But I'm fixing that! Via fanfic! ^^!

random muse: o_O

Trickster: (glowers at muse) What? It's a good fic - highly original, containing no Sueish elements of any sort! In fact, I think I can safely state that no one has ever written a fic like this before!

muse: You're doing a PotO-Fantastic Four crossover.

Trickster: Yup.

muse: And you're bodyswapping Erik and Dr. Doom in a bizzar twist of time and space.

Trickster: Yup!

muse: And you see no problems with this 'solution' to Erik not having many happy moments in his life?

Trickster: (clenches fist with determined expression) It's fool-proof!

muse: -_-U!!! (whispers to your-obt-servt) Save us from our crazy inspiree? Please?

Trickster: (confused expression) What?

me: Ooooh, that does sound intriguing. Now that you mention it, there are some striking similarities between Erik and Dr. Doom.

Leo: Docteur ... who?

me: No, that's different. Dr. Doom is a comic book character.

Leo: I ... see. But that name sounds rather ominous.

me: No, no, "comic" in this instance does not mean ha-ha funny.

Leo: Then why is it called a "comic" book?

me: (sighs and takes out a dictionary) "comic strip (n.) A series or serialization of such narrative sequences, usually featuring a regular cast of characters".

Leo: Ah. Like old serials.

me: Yes. Can we move on now?

Leo: Learn something new every day.

me: ANY-way. I wonder if this means Raoul is Reed and Christine is Sue...

Leo: (noticing the pleading look of the Muses) ...I do not think they wanted you to encourage Mlle. Trickster.

Trickster: No, Raoul and Christine are back in the... um... 19th century. So's Erik's body. Like I said, it's a body-swap that bends and breaks the rules of time and space.

muse: No kidding.

Trickster: It's also a multi-crossover fic. You see, for the Fantastic Four I'm combining the first movie and the cartoon series that came out in 2006 (look up the episode titles on TV.com, type in Fantastic Four 2006 and the episode title, and you can find and watch all of them on Youtube. >3), and I'm combining elements from both in the fic. As for the PotO part of it... (shifty eyes) weeeell, it's kinda a pick-'n'choose of what I know of Phantom (Lerous, Dance, ALW movie) when it comes to Erik's history and Erik himself is a conglomerate of every single version I have ever seen of him. (Including, but not limited to, Leroux, Dance, ALW, Requiem Mask, Unseen Genius, Artoveli's Erik, fatal-rob0t'sMini-Erik, your Erik, and Erik from every other phanfic and phancomic I have ever seen.) Guess you could say he's my version of Erik.
I got the idea for the fic after finishing the Fantastic Four emblem I was embroidering on my Fan Jacket. The thought process was basically that Doom has such frickin' cool powers, but he's such a jerk and so full of himself and all and he's never gonna get over himself and become a good guy, all because he's pissed at Reed. And I decided he doesn't deserve to have such a cool set of powers and got the idea for him to switch bodies with someone who would appreciate the life Doom could have if he would just open his eyes, and so began wondering who I could body-swap Doom with. Had to be someone whose life Doom couldn't muck up and couldn't come and try and get his body back from and whowould above all appreciate what Doom never did and join the Fantastic Four and help them out and stuff. And, as I am a devoted Phan, my mind quickly fell to Erik. He's perfect for the job! ^^
If you're interested, I could type up some of what I've written and PM or e-mail it to you. I'm writing it in a book by hand and haven't nearly finished it yet. Heck, I'm still on day one, and I'm already almost a third of the way through the book! I'm not gonna post the story anywhere until I've finished it, though, so it's gonna be awhile before my creation is unleashed on the world. So if you do want a look, this is the only way you're gonna get one within the nearish future.

^///^ Thanks! Glad you like my ideas. (punches the air, speaking quietly to self) Yes! That means there are two people out there who like this idea! (The other one being my sister, who doesn't really count because we pretty much always love each others' ideas and stories. We may have come from different molds, but we were cut of the same cloth.)
I'll PM you when I post the first chapter (some time in the distant future - it's gonna be a looooong fic) so you can take a look! ^^ In the meantime, have you seen the animated FF series I mentioned in my last reply? If not, you might want to at some point - I draw on it quite heavily for the story, moreso than the movie though there are many elements of it that I also use.
