Description
EDIT: I have a more in-depth centaur tutorial here --> [link] if you would like to take a look.Tutorial pretty much says it all, really. Made mostly because last night I was trying to help ~Fireaze a little with his centaurs and I said I'd do some sketches for him, but as I was doing them I figured I might as well throw in some explanation and this is what came out.
I hope it helps- centaurs are tricky creatures that don't get a lot of attention, and I haven't seen any tutorials about them (a few anatomy charts, though). Eventually I'll make a much more thorough anatomy study/tutorial, but this will have to suffice for now.

This is AMAZING, and so freakin' helpful. <3333 I've been fascinated/obsessed with centaurs and how to mix up their anatomy. But my own horse knowledge is so limited it's laughable. D'= If you could take a quick look at my digital centaur sketches, and maybe note me, that'd be too much to ask. BUT I REALLY WANT TO ASK ANYWAY.

Oh man, I'm SO sorry I took so long replying to you. I'm really terrible about getting back to online messages some times. I will be more than happy to critique your drawings if you still want me to.

This should be helpful. I'm a little nervous about drawing a centaur(iod), though I've been meaning to. I've drawn both bipeds and quadrupeds, and have the basic ability for both (though humaniods are definitely trickier)...so why am I afraid to combine them? XD;

I hope it does help- centaurs can be really tricky. Btw, I'm working on a better centaur tutorial I should be able to post in the next few days.

Yep: bean bodies. Always start with the bean bodies...... 7@=e
I recollect Roy Pounds (steamfox on FA) doing a 'taur tutorial some years ago; he had some tips on proportions as well....

Bean bodies- love it! (much more fitting than calling them stick figures, anyways.)
I'll have to check that out. Thanks for mentioning it!

...I would, if I had sufficient time and inspiration. Not nearly enough of the former, and way too much of the latter, as it is now.

Haha, ah well. I'll be posting them in UPD when I finish so you can see. I'm considering updating the journal on that to explain a lot. Mainly that we welcome visitors, but it still is fairly central to us members of the crew, and the group is more of a holding place for our contributions. I have a couple different gallery folders, like Comics, dragonsonas, featured and random. I want to save the featured for full pictures of specifically UPD, and random for stuff that includes UPD but it isn't the main focus.
aaahhh... I apologize for the word wall.

Interessant, I like watching other artist's technics. You don't use lines to place eyes, nose exct...? I prefer a same color for the horse-party and the human-party too, It's more "realistic" and "logicall" I think. And hair wich continue on the back like a mane

I use them to get the general idea of where I want the facial features, but faces come easily enough now that I don't really need guides. That, and it's not uncommon for me to change my mind on the expression several times while I'm drawing it.
