Description
Wait... what?She finally did it?
She submitted her tutorial which is actually finished since more than half a year? (I just had to put everything together... but I'm sooo lazy XD)
I DID IT!
And it was so much work! XD This thing here almost killed me. But I hope it can help you! >3<
I tried my best to explain everything x.x If you have got any questions feel free to ask.
OK I'M DONE XD
Thanks to and who helped me correcting mistakes XD
If you see any of them: I don't care XD (it was so much work!!!)
MEDIA USED: Faber Castel Polychromo Color Pencils
Character: Michiru Kaioh (c) Naoko Takeuchi
Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon
Hope you like it
Mistakes I saw too late:
I wrote "grey" wrong... WTH. Three times! WHY?
Somewhere I wrote techniques wrong.
EDIT: OK thank you, some of you told me that both spellings gray and grey are right. XD THANKS <3
----
Sorry people! >.< This time I just don't manage to answer all comments ;3; I'd love to but there are too many of them! I read every single comment and appreciate it!

Du hattest eigentlich wohl gar keine wirkliche Lust, das Tutorial fertig zu machen und hochzuladen und jetzt haste damit ne DD
GlΓΌckwunsch!

I rarely find step-by-step tutorials helpful, but this one truly was. It put me so much into mood to try coloured pencils now
Thanks for taking the time to create this tutorial.

hello, the tutorial is great, and the result is fantastic! congratz for the DD. I have one comment though. maybe you you need to put more lighting when you taking the pictures of your steps, because right now the pictures are a little bit dark. also, some pictures are a little bit blurry. but otherwise, great tutorial

wish i had the patience to color traditionally. i just hate drawing pictures large enough to fit the color detail i want
your coloring is beautiful and smooth btw. its look bled like watercolors.
i dont like the final enhanced image at the bottom though. its a bit harsh

its really great!
i have and use quite the exact same materials, that 120 box and the copic pad. i also bought a giant A2 pad but all my inks would run out if i filled just one i bet.
i never tried colored pencils on copic paper tho D: since it is extra coated i thought the colored pencil wouldnt have much adhesion on it

Awesome tutorial, but I can't help but go "Huh?" at the grey roses. They don't make any sense. Green roses, yeah, but not grey. Not unless you found a way of dyeing them grey...

YueYuki In reply to colourcodedchaos [2012-04-13 18:58:49 +0000 UTC]
Lol green roses wouldn't make sense either. Acutally the roses should look white with a little warm grey tone... EH XD They SHOULD XD I tend to color light parts too dark. But I'm trying to improve that ^^ (oh and I actually know how to dye roses in any color :3)

There are varieties of green rose grown in my neck of the woods, but that's mostly due to the university not having much else to do these days.

very helpful.
I've never been able to get the color blending right before. now that I know the how, I'll just have to practice like crazy.
... and hope that my limited palette of 36 colors will be enough.
thanks for sharing.

36 colors should definitely be enough! ^^ I also started with 36 colors (you can see my beginnings at the end of my browse gallery)
You're welcome

Wow, thanks for the amazing tutorial!!!! I always work with coloured pencils (Albrecht DΓΌrer from Faber Castell), but my technique is totally different I'm not really happy with it. Your way of colouring is just great, the finished product looks amazing! I'm really going to try this.

You made me think about a few techniques that I'd never otherwise think of doing o3o
I find it interesting that you start with the darker shades first o3o
I always start with the lighter shades, then layer with darker shades~
(not that there's a right way to do it)

I actually explained how to shade (when I used the brown crayon, it's this cross technique)
If you didn't understand it here, I recommend to have a look at this tutorial: [link]
The shading technique ist almost the same! :3 I do only use it differently (as you can see in that tutorial)

I think you don't need the same paper or Polychromos for that :3 You can also use a normal paper and other crayons, the technique is the same :3
Thanks for commenting <3 Glad to know it was helpful ^^

Thanks for putting this up!! It really helped me with a drawing of mine!!! I even stayed up late last night to test it against my usual colouring style and I think it's safe to say that my normal stuff lost by a landslide! If you don't mind, I'm going to be using a few of the ideas from here in my own work!! Thank you so much!!!
