Description
32/38 Taken.6/38 Available.
Update: Updated to the new colour scheme
Information
I am in need of some Saboteur designs for Starquake, and since I love involving people I would like to request some designs! If you see a slot you would like, either send me a reference stating which one you would like. All characters that will be appearing soon and are not taken will be highlighted. Also, don't worry, any Saboteur who doesn't go out in a blaze of glory will be taken by me
Another small note; if you ask for a Reaper that has no name, you can't choose a name from the unknown Reaper list. Every Reaper has already been chosen so you could count it as a surprise for what the Reaper is called.
Submission
Now, how to give me designs. There are 3 ways, you can either use:
1- Image Reference: If you have an image you can give me to help me create the images that go on the sheet, send that to me through PM!
2 - Text Description: If you don't have an image, you can give a text description (all I need is what slot you want, species if required, skin colour(s), eye colour, any markings etc) and drop that to me as a PM. You can also give me partial references (eg, markings) and tell me 'with marks like this' if you are worried about me messing those up.
3 - Colour Lineart: If you don't have a reference, but want to make sure I get the image right, you can download my set of lineart (below the examples) and colour those in either in GIMP or Photoshop (or other editors) and PM me the image.
Any questions, feel free to ask me!

Everytime I see this updated I'm so tempted to do a design

You're more than welcome to! Once they're gone, that's them taken for the entire Starquake saga

Oh and at the risk of pestering you again:
I take it that you are still searching for characters here?
I might have an Idea for a Drell
(Even if I must admit I didn't progress far enough in the story yet to quite understand what the Saboteurs are all about I hope thats not too terrible)
(Oh and if I somehow bother you too much just tell me and i'm back to minding my own buisness, I don't want to be somehow impolite )

You can't pester me that easily, fret not! I would love your drell design! (and I know you may not have progressed that far, you'll understand what they are later )

Oh glad to hear that, then I'll continue xD
Sweet! Shall I describe her (is it okay that its a female?) to you or should I give you a drawing? (what would you prefer?)
And do they already have a fixed background story or can I add one or two things to that?

You can give me a description or you can send me an image, I am good with either! (an image will be more accurate on the sheet, but no one has complained with my text based ones yet). I have a lineart series and a tutorial in the description if you want to use them (or draw it yourself if you wish!)
Backgrounds are not necessary but you can if you want. They may be more applicable in something else I have planned but at most it'll have a small mention in the saga when we meet them.

Uhm.. I think I'll draw her then. (Ill use my own lines, but thanks anyway)
I got already an Image in scetching, but I'm going to need a few more days to finish it.
Do you only need a headshot or would you prefer a complete body sheet?
So.. is this a sneaky hint that I may want to keep my background -rich character for something upcoming in the future and now for this just give you one with a fancy design?

I only need a headshot, but you are more than welcome to a full body if you wish
Well, maybe. I'm still sketching out rough ideas but I'm worrying about the 5th book more than this little project for now XD

Despina-Strela In reply to YunikoYokai [2017-05-17 17:43:38 +0000 UTC]
Okay then I'll start with the Headshot and see if I have the time and passion to do the fullbody.
Why the worry? Is the writing not going as well as you planned?
hmm I guess it still makes me exited enough to keep my initial character idea back for now.
I guess I'll have some fun designing something new now.
(scetching around with design Ideas is rather relaxing for me)
Would you need some more designs for this?
Oh and something else:
Since you recently asked for critique:
I've been looking at the new pages of Red Hearts and Starquake and noticed a few things here and there anatomy-wise.
Would you be interested in me pointing them out to you? (perhaps even regularely on new pages?)
(I'm asking because many people are not too happy about when you keep commenting on what they could have done better....)
But I thought maybe it would help you improve.
It's just an offer and I am not a complete master in anatomy, but I keep learning so much about it and I am eager to share what I learned.
So I would be completely fine if you say no ^^

It's more trying to tie everything into a sensible order to stop me leaping around wildly like I feel Renaissance is. There is just so much to do in the next book (as it is the finale), planning is a bit of a minefield. I'll get there, Renaissance has only just started so I don't need to worry about the next book until closer to the end of the year.
I don't really need many designs at this time, if you wish to do another, then feel free! I like to leave a few open in case other readers want to submit something and if they don't, I have backups.
But I'd love some feedback (not so much on Starquake just now because the sketches I'm inking are old and I'm too lazy to re-sketch them) just to see if the new style is better (i was focusing more on lines and expressions, so I know my anatomy is still horrific XD ) The thing with critique is to do it every now and then but don't make it a habit unless otherwise told. I know a lot of artists (like me) just draw something as a warm-up or to vent or something so it won't be perfect.

Ah yeah I understand. Planning and writing a worthy finale to a series is hard.
I am writing on a story I have in planning for four years now and I still can't really decide on how to bring everything together so if fitts well.
So I know your feeling^^
Oh okay then I'll stick to the one^^
Ah I see. Is it possible that you scetched the last one at a simular time as some of the Red-Hearts pages? (pure couriosity)
I'm asking because Dell's face in this page is more child-like than in the previous pages. (what would fit to the many child faces you did for Red Hearts)
Yeah I know, but even if you critique seldomly and not just write bad stuff in it, there are so many people here on DA that simply can't handle them...
(Not so much out of personal experience, I actually only do them when asked (don't want to step on anyones toes..) but I've seen too many well meaning critiquing comments that got bad responses.)
And I woulnd't call your anatomy horriffic^^ It just needs more practise. (When I look at my anatomy from not so long ago it was waaaay worse than yours.)
So I'll take another look at Red Hearts then? I'll try to give you as much feedback as I can on the lines and expressions compared to the older pages.
(But I admit that at least lines is probabaly not my strongest area, I'd be more usefull with the anatomy, but I'll take a look^^)

The page was sketched about December, if not earlier. it was about the time of the last page release anyway. The child-like is an escape from my inking rather than the sketch, but the sketch for that panel was so bad I had to change it basically redo most of it during inking (because dammit after doing kids for months, I've forgotten how to adult XD)
Some feedback would be good. Not sure if moving away from the realism is a good thing or not. it makes expressions easier at least XD

Yeah, I had the same with elves recently... kept drawing elves over and over and when I tried to return to humans....
(You'd think that pointy ears wouldn't make a huge diffrence, but everything that wasn't suppoesed to be an elf turned into a mess xD)
Sure thing, I'll do, if I manage today, else probabaly tomorrow.
Well moving away from realism is something you can do and what often makes things easier, but you have to do it right^^
Proportions in general (I mean like geometry and how the diffrent parts of the face behave in relation to each other in various angles, stuff like that)
stay the same if you start to stylize. And you have to stylize consistently.
Let's say keeping hair super detailed and realistic but stylizing the rest of the face mostly isn't going to work out too well.
(there are people that can do things like that and it looks amazing, but if you don't know what exacly your doing I wouldn't recommend it)
Same with keeping the style you chose consistent over at least one page.
The last part is not as easy as it sounds because you first have to truly discover the style you want to use and then practise it to get used to it.
It would be good to know with what parts of your art you are most unhappy and why. (And to specify how exacly you want to move away from realism.)
(not only for me but also for you, it often helps to clarify for yourself on what exacly you want)
I'm just trying to evaluate here how I can help you best

Awesome, I would recommend moving onto the Red heartsdeviation to continue this, by the way, just because we are moving away from Starquake now XD
generally, I'm not stylising is much more than it already is (ie, eyes, lips, maybe the nose max, anatomy wise, nothing has changed). My problem with realism is that I struggle to make different 'types' of eyes or noses etc (for character uniqueness) and slightly more stylised eyes are easier to do that in. Also, the reason the hair us 'super realistic' is because I cannot do lineart for hair, which is why you only ever see the outline (and maybe the parting from time to time). Every attempt has failed with such horrible results I never want to try it again. I know it's a terrible excuse, but no amount of tutorials or practice has helped me. The face is the only thing my style is changing just now (and hopefully the only thing that will change)

Are you still looking for Characters? I can make some female characters for the Turian, Quarian and/or Vorcha if you want. ^_^

I certainly am I have one turian spot left (unless you want a Shadow Broker spot) and two quarian spots. I also have two vorcha spots, so if you would like one, grab it quick since someone else might be considering one of them

These are for your story correct?
I would love to have the Turian to have it be a Shadow Broker spot will there be any needed information? And also a Quarian as well if possible.
I just got into the Mass Effect series Fandom like two days ago btw so might have lots of questions. like what colors are allowed for those races.

YunikoYokai In reply to AshesWindchaser [2016-10-04 09:22:22 +0000 UTC]
Yes, these are for my story. The only information I need is the design (colours, markings, scars etc) and a name, since everything else (Reaper Name, specialisation etc) is already fixed. And you are more than welcome to submit the turian and quarian!
I'll be happy to answer any questions you have. Generally speaking, with Quarians living in suits, the suits can be any colour you want. No one really knows what range of skin colours the quarians are able to have but for the purposes of this, that isn't necessary. For turians, basically any shade of metal; browns, reds, coppers, blues, brass/yellow, gold and greys/silvers/steels. For markings, technically the markings represent the colony they were born on (eg, Palaven) but most people just design their own. Colours can be anything you like here!

Awesome I have them both finished getting ready to upload them now. Also can my Turian be a Shadow Broker? I would love that but only if she fits what you have in mind.

Fantastic! If you don't want to colour lineart, then I can make the portrait from a quick text description Since both are free, you can choose which Reaper name you want: Velousek or Oyunbileg.

Yep, all I need is either an image (either drawn yourself or coloured in one of my linearts) or you can write a description (skin colour, eye colour, scars etc) and pass that to me

VMetalic In reply to YunikoYokai [2016-10-10 16:39:59 +0000 UTC]
Okay As I am not so good in coloring I will go with simple description. Just take normal Vorcha with red eyes, give him a cheetah-like color palette of his skin (yellow skin with brown stripes and spots over it), red clothings. He may probably have a burned scar on one hand (lighter than the rest of his body, or make it beige, simialr to Garrus' scars). His name should be Vsick, and one note, he loves to use the Flamer ability a lot, and prefers to go into melee combat with his Omni-claws or how its officially called for them
