Description EDIT: WHOOPS- ONE OF THE RED ARROWS WEREN'T POINTING AT THE RIGHT PLACE- HOW EMBARRASSING

So a few of you noticed how vibrant n nicer looking my colouring's been recently, and some of you complain abt how scanners destroy your colours. Scanners are evil. So I decided to show you guys how I revive and enhance my scanned drawings!!

Gosh, I hope this is easy to follow-
I couldn't resist meme-ing so I hope you don't mind the many spams of my hand

This should be applicable for other art programs like Sai, Medibang etc. considering the important stuff like Layer Modes (Overlay, Multiply etc) are pretty universal (?)... I'm pretty sure there's Auto Tone/Colour and Contrast too, it's just the interface and/or term that's different.
That's usually the case for 3D softwares lolol

Tagging sansmonumental12   since you're the one who asked for some tips, and I couldn't explain it all in text. Here's some pictures for you, buddy xDD

Btw!! If possible, please don't repost this anywhere else without my permission!! Ask me first. Reposting without my consent will hurt my feelings >:'^(
Does anyone want a part 2 for the eyes and the blur effects I love to do?? I need encouragement aaaaa ;;;;

I haven't actually read this yet but-
memes
The spaghetti is your tutorial. The black guy is me enjoying your tutorial. #swag

Ok, I just finished reading it and it's actually pretty helpful.
So, question. With the clipping mask, colors will stay within the characters lines. But, when hair goes over the fingers or overlaps the face and stuff, you'll have to do some precision work then right? Like, you'll have to color inside the hair lines and not spill over into the skin when doing hair correct?
-
Or I suppose I could make another mask layer for the hair alone/whatever I want to color in by itself.

i love spaghetti :^D

The colours will all stay within the character, even if you try colouring somewhere else... you'll only see the total mess it is when you unclip the mask xD
Yup, yup. It saves a lot of time when the colours only go on your character... you'll still need to colour inside the hair lines so it wont go on the skin, but it's less work, definitely
If you want to make separate layers each for the hair, clothes, skin/blushes, that's fine too! I used to do that initially, but I noticed the file size for some larger drawings are pretty big when there's a lot of layers... so I do it all in one layer now ehehh

glad you found this useful tho! Was kinda worried ;;;

Mmmm, thanks for the info~.
And yah, I shouldn't have any troubles coloring in the lines.
A little zoom in should help me with that.
Thanks again~.

yuudann In reply to Pepperistia [2018-02-26 09:29:54 +0000 UTC]

levels are my fave things to mess around with eheheh- tho I usually just hit the shortkeys rather than clicking around photoshop

yuudann In reply to Pepperistia [2018-02-27 01:58:07 +0000 UTC]

you can try playing doremi or twinkle twinkle on the piano thing as a basic practice!
Doremi's pretty good for a start. Piano key's start with a C, oddly... but the white key's are from A-G

You'll get a hang of it, dw xD

XIAO BAOzzz!!!!  THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS LOVELY TUTORIAL ~~~!!!!
U have know idea how much I have been struggling with photoshop and configuring my damn scanner XD

With this I just might able to make some of my drawings more enhanced and lively
Most part I had just been messing about with the saturation scale on photoshop, which wasn't really that useful...

I cannot thank you enough for this useful guide!!!!

I wish I could give you something in return... like maybe another request or smt XD
(Oh and I should probably show you that Wakasagihime comic that I had been working on)
I'll pm the pic to you on DA by tomorrow or fb)

(Also, is that a picture of your hand giving a thumbs in the first few pics xD??)

YOU'RE WELCOMR, MANNN
I feel your pain, configuring one's scanner is the most confusing thing I've ever played with, I ended up leaving it be xD

Will look forward to that comic ehehehe
Yes, it's a veiny, pale, left hand reveal! >:^D
I couldn't resist some comedic relief x'DD

I'll try to do a continuation of this drawing, then!! It might come around next week, considering that's the only times I'm truely free xD

sansmonumental12 In reply to yuudann [2018-02-26 15:11:09 +0000 UTC]

Thanks to you, I can finally stop abusing my scanner by pressing all of its buttons
and plugging random wires in and out from it XD

You should do some exercise with that muscular hands of yours

U tangan sgt kuat sampai I jugak tak boleh compete.... I kalah.... I admit...

Ya, also don't stress yourself too much with the tutorials yee
