Description
If a tree falls
Some like to ponder
But I like to wonder
If a tree grows
Then why donβt we plant it?
Protecting our forests and planting new trees is our best defense against climate change. Join the fight at www.rainforesttrust.org/

Very true words, that's I would say it about climate change too. Trees are needing CO2 to survive and are giving O2, what humans and animals are needing and giving CO2 by breathing out. It's a natural cycle.

Actually somewhere between 50-80 percent of our world's oxygen comes fromΒ Β phytoplankton in the ocean, not trees. earthsky.org/earth/how-much-doβ¦
Further, ironically since this project is called "rain forest trusts", rainforests don't produce a positive amount of oxygen with the decomposition of dead plant matter consuming about the same as they produce. So having more rain forests would decrease our total oxygen supply at least from what is produced on land.

That's good to know, thanks for sharing!Β There needs to be a Phytoplankton protection program.
I just googled and found out that Global Warming is what is mainly killing this plankton. Because warm water means less oxygen in the water for them (and all other water creatures) to breathe.
We got 40% fewer plankton since 1950!

So we still have to do something about anything that causes global warming, as that shit destroys literally everything.

That's interesting and also very fascinating. Another new thing learned, thank you.
About rainforests... I didn't know about this fact. Maybe these trees are very different from likes such as oaks or pine trees. Also rainforests can only grow in certain climate zones like tropical ones with lots of rain.

Because a humans life is to short, to understand the impact of his acting. We are simply too focust on our life and the short amount of time we have on our hands. In the time, in which a tree grows generations might pass and we are impatient creatures, just looking for our own benefits.
Trees are growing, but the human mind doesn't...

Very true. You've reminded me of this quote. βThe one who plants trees,Β knowingΒ thatΒ heΒ will never sit in their shade, has at least started to understand the meaning of life.β (Rabindranath Tagore)Β

people should maybe make their roves green (by covering it with plants or grass on some places)
or on their balconies..
idk but we need more greeen

Because those in power know they will eventually die, and intend to take us all with them. Nuclear war, catastrophic climate change, exhaustion of resources, take your pick.

Hello Norvet ! I understand you are new to this site, but advertisement on other people's pages isn't a smart way to get exposure. Instead, here's some tips to get yourself "out there":
-join groups
-make friends
-post art and journals regularily
-share around on other social media

One of my big dreams is to plant a forest, just letting it grow by itself untouched by people.

if a tree is growing, it have obviously already been plant.
its the seeds that we need to plant for the tree to grow.

You're so right with this.
We own some patches of forest ourselves and we lost about 80% of our trees through pests and drought in the recent years. We tried planting new trees there for several years now, but almost none of them survived because of the lack of water. The drought sill continues this year, so all young trees will die again. And I doubt it will get better in the future (climate change).
It's so sad and frustrating, and at some point you just want to give up.
All of you out there who live in places that sill have enough water and rain: Please do what you can. Help us save our world.
Our governments won't do it, they're too busy with pointless talking, and thinking only about money.

This is absolutely beautiful.
People need to stop chopping down so many trees, at some point there wonβt be any left, like in The Lorax.

I'm actually growing trees at home (currently oaks), but I won't be able to protect them whenever the government decides to cut them down for wood or whenever some rich asshole wants to build mansions and business parks on their earth. Especially when my trees will (hopefully) outlive me.
I believe protecting the trees is the actual problem, like you said in the description, not growing them. Growing them is easy. At least oaks are easy to grow as my first trees:
Pick up acorns, put them in a cup of water, throw away those that float (they're hollow/dead). Use the same earth from where you found your acorns (their mother tree could grow with it, so can her babies). Filter the earth (the earth needs to be dry in order to be filtered it the easiest) to help get rid of eggs of insects and fungi which later might eat roots and similar. Use the filtered earth for your acorns. Keep the trees outside (balcony or whatever you have) so they get to experience all seasons and can do their natural cycles. You don't need to water your oaks often because they're not exotic rain forest trees that need rain every day. And boom, tree starts growing.
Happy tree growing!

Nope, its more a short sighted time-money thing. Planting doesnΒ΄t bring in much money, unless you plant a whole forest (for selling the wood) and wait several years. So nobody bothers with it.
If planting and growing trees actually would be paid well, we would have forests everywhere.
