Lots of people have asked me to make a tutorial but I never had the time. Well, I found some time while procrastinating on hw yesterday to do a simple eye tutorial in my semirealistic Project WE style. I used Paint tool SAI in this tutorial but the instructions can work for Photoshop as well.I will do more tutorials on other things later but that's all for now!

This might be a weird question since this tutorial is about eyes.. but how do you give the skin's colour such a painterly look?
I am using SAI and I have been checking so many tutorials about colouring in SAI but they are always about using the water tool to blend colours which makes everything look too rubber or airbrush like in my opinion but I would like to give my artworks rougher stroke textures. I would appreciate any little hint!

Hi, I just saw this tutorial and ur comment, and I've used sai in the past but mostly use photoshop, and I've found that to create this sort of effect, you just really need to layer on different shades and hues (in very low opancy) over a base skin color, our skin is made up of all different colors so really mix different things together in a light opancy and then blur lightly, and you'll end up hopefully somewhat lke the pic in this tutorial. Hope this helps

huh, good idea. I sometimes do the same thing, but usually I just go by instinct and fuck around with the colors for a bit, choosing some at random. I almost always have to change the contrast in the end, as I don't give myself enough in pics.

It's so simple, I'd be ashamed I didn;t think of it. but truthfully though I love how SAI has the tone and value all seperate... I don't understand what those words mean. or saturation, though I am guessing saturation has something to do with absence of light?
*bites lip* my SAI expired today, and I don't have my crack anymore. and I has no money *tries to add sadness smiley but still doesn't know how to work DA smileys* o ^o
