Iβm super stoked to hear that you picked up on that-Makes me feel assured that I did it right!
Originally was just messing around using white ink, and drew this hooded figure. I didnβt have an idea of what to do with it so I put it to the side and came back to it the following day, to try and think of how I could make it more interesting, and I thought it would be cool to have the images kind of blowing out (or being sucked in) by the hood.
As I developed the drawing more, I was kind of thinking about the process of art, and how what I end up drawing is the product of my own practice and observations as well as the all the art and media that has influenced me both consciously and subconsciously. At the end of a drawing there is always this feeling of shared ownership with some type of supernatural muse-I do the drawing, but the drawing reveals itself to me as well...donβt know if that makes much sense lol

Thatβs super kind of you to say-I suppose thatβs why youβre called sweet mouth! I do love Goya, and Blake. I used to live in NYC and sketch people while riding on the train, and try to rip off DaVinciβs (delusional lol), I love those graceful organic lines that all those guys used.

Lol thanks! I get that a lot-Iβve actually been trying to not make my drawings so overwhelmingly detailed to the point that itβs impossible to even understand whatβs going on. I have struggled with that for such a long time. Hoping that by practicing perspective and anatomy that Iβll be able to draw more high contrast and graphic imagery as well

I know. Sometimes I feel like a fraud, because the final drawings I post are the result of experimentation with some rare exceptions (meaning I had no idea what I was going to draw when I started). tbh, I think this might have started out as a landscape, but at some point I got a figure instead, and then came back to it the next day with fresh eyes, and the idea of the imagery pouring out (or in) to the hood popped into my brain.
Main take away-I have drawn from life a lot, and at some point I realized that one of my strengths was exploiting my mistakes. I use lots of white hatching, then black ink to hatch over the white ink to see what happens. I look at clouds, rocks, water etc.. often and try to see if I can turn ambiguous shapes into more defined images.

I had to look up what that meant haha, but thank you! Thatβs actually a very nice compliment, as I have this tendency to drift off into absolute chaos. I always take pictures of my drawings while Iβm working on them as well as look at them through mirrors to try and at least keep the image readable (Iβm one of those whose face gets closer and closer to the paper as I drawπ£!)
