I'm a big fan of both Hunter x Hunter as well as Dragon Ball, and during a recent rewatch of HxH I was thinking about the very different approaches each series had to the protagonist getting the Big Power Up to beat the unbeatable enemy. Since Goku was around the same age as Gon when he fought Piccolo to avenge Krillin and Master Roshi, I got this image in my head of young Goku doing what Gon did to transform, exchanging all his future potential for temporary access to that full power.
