Description Ganges class is backbone of Royal Bengalorian Navy. Very fast and capable, highly automatized which left with smaller crew. Several countries which seek new corvette type ship were interested in Ganges.

Bengalorian R&D which designed the Ganges, design several export variants. This variants include different radar and other electronical systems, some weapons changes (usually addition of second CIWS system). "Export I" is the first variant, not sacrificing any of good capabilities of original Ganges but improving the short range defense with second CIWS added foward part of the ship.

Total of twelve ships were ordered by three countries. Chile ordered six ships, Venezuela four and Bangladesh two. From this eight ships were ordered as Export I and four as Export II variants. With total numbers of twenty four (and possibility of more ships ordered) it makes it one of most numerious modern corvettes, second only to Chinese Type 056 corvette, sharing second place with South Korean Pohang which is also built in twenty four units and followed by D'Estienne class.

Bangladesh placed order for two units.
BNS Haphong was launched in 2015 and commissioned in same year.
BNS Arsuang was launched in 2016 and commissioned in January of 2017.
