Zephyr class - Support Frigate

Probably one of most numerical frigate in UEA and frontier territories. The versatile and multi-purpose NTDI Zephyr was in service with almost dozen and half nations. In its fifty years (since first ship was built), almost five hundred of this ships were constructed, Four hundred of those only for UEA, which replace over three hundred old patrol cutters, corvettes and frigates. Zephyr was built to be modular, easy adaptable and easy to repair and maintain. Originally it was ment for mining companies to help fix their ships that were in constant danger of been damaged by multiple threats (rouge asteroids, sun radiation...). But over the years Zephyr evolved and although many ships are still used in support role, many others were heavily armed.


Zephyr as told was in service with many nations and there was large number of variants. UEA is primary user with over four hundred ships (These so called Military variants are the strongest Zephyrs). Many smaller nations use this ships, and not only them, but civilian defense contractors, mining defense escorts (were usually Zephyr's). Pirates also use this ships, as matter of fact, Zephyr was second most numerical class of Pirate ships in last few years (most of these ships were buyed by third party companies). One of most important pirate ship was the Morena, captained by Captain Zack Isemerey.

Zephyr is 730 meters long and have crew of 500 (although length and crew can vary from variant to variant)

In game Zephyr is represented as support frigate. Its main duty keeping other allies alive as long as possible. It is recomended due light armor and shields to keep distance from enemy, and been close to the larger allies. As this shields you from enemy but allows you to heal your allies, however always have the eye on the map for the stealth ships that can attack you from behind.


Zephyr was fast and very good armed. The Pulse laser turrets which were created for short to medium range were excellent in combat against unshielded ships on short range. They do not do much damage but the rapid firing makes damage constant. "Fang" thermal - thermic torpedoes capable to deal heavy damage to enemy shielding were used as secondary weapon to this ship, with range of 10-12km ship could fire four of this torpedoes every ten seconds and dealing massive damage in same place of impact if all four hit (of course if torps hit the target without been shot down).
Nano repair beam is not really a weapon, it is supporting tool. It has two settings which greatly helps in its task. First is leech mode which can leech energy from enemy ships (mostly draining shields), that energy is then converted into healing beam which helps recharge allied shields, but also repairing hull breaches.

PDC (Pulse defense cannons), a close in range defense system, not really effective against swarm of enemy missiles however due Zephyr's speed it help reduce damage. 

Zephyr have four abilities. First ability is (Leech Beam), it reconfigure nano beam to leech energy from enemy ships and transfer it into buffer on board the ship, then that energy is used to heal the allies, Beam can heal allies even if you dont leech energy from your enemy, but having lesser effect.
Second ability is (Defense drones), four drones are released from underbelly bay and they orbit around the ship, shielding it from incoming fire, however they can be destroyed by enemy fighters, and after thirty seconds they withdraw to the bay for recharge. The effect of enemy fire is lowered to 15% when all four are active.
Third ability is (Interdiction pulse), the two side generators release strong pulse which prevents all ships in area for jumping away for next five seconds, allowing crippled enemy ships to be destroyed by allies (as not able to escape), Zephyr is one of only few ships in game that can act as interdiction picket frigate, however the downside of this is that allied ships to cannot jump for five seconds.
And last fourth ability is (Weapon booster), this ability adds second configuration to nano beam, which fire the energy directly into  allied ship increasing the fire rate and strength of main weapons for six seconds.

Zephyr is very speedy ship with weak defenses, playing defensive is highly recommended.
