Design History:

While Turbulent class was pure sucess Alliance command wants destroyer in similar size but faster and capable of planetary operations. Raptor was created to fill the gap. Not only been the fastest ship in Alliance it was also capable to land on planet, or operate in atmospheric conditions. However Raptor prove itself in many different tasks especially in attacking planetary targets, landing troops and working in wolf packs. It design was in some way derivation from Turbulent with many changes and improvements. Raptor also have new TOR antimatter reactor which gaves twenty percent more energy then CEYLON series, allowing Raptor to reach over 9 G without problems. Specially designed internal cage protects crew from high velocity speeds.

Armament and defenses:

Although original variant wasnt suppost to be heavily armed, things changes with First Procyon war. During and after the war all Raptors recieved much more weapons then it suppost to. Boolstering its firepower and allowing it to work with Turbulent destroyers not only guarding them. While Raptor lacks in missiles (still have some twelve launchers and two or three hundred missiles) it for sure compensated with large array of energy weapons. In term of defenses, its defenses are the same or similar to those of Turbulent class but Raptor relays more on MI200 Plasma beam-pulse cannons for close to mid range defense. Reason is obviosly clear, since it attack enemy on close range it is not only exposed to enemy missiles and torpedoes, it is also exposed to enemy fighters and bombers, while using its superior speed to attack enemy ships from close it relay on its defensive plasma beam-pulse cannons for defense against fighters and other threats.

Service history: While Raptor performed well and has much lesser losses then Turbulent alliance continuesly upgrade Raptors to improve their capabilities. Then new generation of TOR antimatter reactor which was in development will theoretically allow this ships to go over 10-12 gs, improving not only its speed and manuverability, its surivival as well.

Raptor was shock for Arkos ground forces, not once UEA demostrate its capability to attack ground forces with its "Sweeping Attacks", unlike larger ships, Raptor enters the atmosphere and in one flyby attacks designated targets on ground, leveling everything in its path. Raptor become "Demon" to Arks, probably because sudden apearance, destruction and then dissapearance.

This tactics were used during first and second Procyon wars, and even in Kalian incursion and almost always with 100% sucess. After these wars Raptor production was increased to replace the lost destroyers that were lost (not only Raptor class losses).
