While the Navy is institutionally comfortable with engaging in straight-up ship-to-ship fights, when the Air Force first began lobbying for their own space carriers to operate with the rest of the IFOR fleet, they began developing a doctrine that viewed their ships as more a 'mobile base', capable of defending themselves, but not normally meant to tangle with enemy capital ships directly.

Well you know the Navy gets it first, makes sure it works well and then the Air Force wants it too. Worked for the A-7 and F-4.

Uh, no, not this time, Air Force wanted a ship of their own, well part of that is they get to risk their own buts on the shakedown...

About time the Air Force got a ship. You did make sure that the bunks were nice and soft. You know us Air Force guys, we have to have our comfort.
