My 200th Deviation.Decided to kill 2 birds with one stone. I really wasn't inspired to draw anything in particular for this, but I did want to draw a Disc Magazine cover so I mixed the two.
The 21 marks the submission number for this month. I really didn't check if discmagazine.com is a real website.
Anyway about Disc, in the episode when Kimber and Stormer make the duo ("The Bands Break Up" if you want to youtube it) there were some magazines covering the two popular singers and I had to pause it to get some of the names. Disc was one (of course it had a different disc for the i but still) Rambin Rock and Cool Trash were the others.
I hope you enjoy it since Open Canvas didn't want to open it. I sually sketch, ink and paint in Open Canvas then switch to Photoshop for the final touches but since it was a magazine cover I needed to set the layout first. since I already had it opened I sketched, inked and put the base colors there but I can't shade in PS. so I went to OC but it gave me err=15. I had to save the image in 3 pngs. Base colors, mask and inks. Oh well at least it's done.

I saw what you did and how you incorporated yourself into the magazine cover.Β I like little subtleties like that.Β I just finished reading the 14 chapters you have posted and the ideas section.Β Now I'm looking at the pictures to imagine the look to your vision.Β I must say that it is a good take on a classic.Β Can't wait for chapter 15.

I need to re read all of those myself, but before I do that I have to watch the show again, at least the first 2 seasons so I can time and tie things better. So I know for certain the start of my plot will change but it won't be a drastic change. As little as I remember of it that is.

this is what she would look like if the remade jem like the other 80's cartoons for 2011. if they do that can you design the characters plz. this is as kimber would say outragous.

I like the masthead design. While you said that the magazine used a different disk (probably an LP I would guess) did you design the font for the word Disc?

I edited a font I already had in my computer to fit the design. Basically I stretched and cut here and there to get the right look.

Nope. Too lazy but basically they just ask her about Jem and what she thought about the Misfits. By the time of the magazine their rivalry had already begun. She confessed she was a Misfits fan since before there were any Holograms and how some of their lyrics and music are exactly what made the Misfits popular. You know just praising without knowing Stormer's work.
The interviewer asked a little too much about Jem though, even though the cover suggests it's about Kimber they only got her because Jem was impossible to get.

Thanks. I had the perfect pose on a photo of one of the RBD chicks, who happened to have red hair and was hot. I never watched Rebelde even though they aired it on local tv but I was aware of them and her style is exactly what I wanted for Kimber. After all she's more like a rebellious type.
That and I can't afford real models so I have to look for pictures that are close enough to what I need. Rarely I leave the pose as is, but in this case it was perfect to fit the content.
