Description
Dusk's falling on my decadent reality. My everyday landscape keeps drowning, I'm a microscopic orange stain in a rusty universe. I hope you'll come tonight... Surprising thread of my thoughts, my guide and lover, let me cross again the dark frontier of my fantasies! So close but uncertain to reach, this blurry paradise hides behind my eyelids.Release me... and I'll fade like a drop in the infinite ocean of a dream.

'Below the Rust' is actually my biggest painting (it is 1.2 x 0.8 meters wide), and the one I have spent the longest time on. Five months, doing an average half-time work. The fact is that I can't help myself doing those small details that nobody can see. Using a 1-hair brush on a canvas that wide is totally insane!
This is only oil paint on canvas, but before starting to paint I made many sketches, and even a colorized version with photoshop (to set up the right colors).

That's one nice surreal art, I studied surrealism in my 3rd year at college & I've got an idea how weird it can be & also how amazing. Yours is great, love the mood & style.

This reminds me of a surreal take on global warming and the ice caps melting and all that shiz.

This blew my mind i love all the detail to the stairs, bricks, water, and the whole picture. The colors are wonderful and it gives me a chill looking at the world under the water. Everything blends perfectly together and I'm in love with this.

this is super cool. have you ever seen Uccello's 'The Deluge'? your picture kinda reminds me of it, what with the rusty kind of tone and dramatic perspective.

Great piece! I almost couldn't believe it is a traditional art... No offense against those who use digital art or anything, I just find it way more difficult to paint traditionally, where you can't just step back when you ruin something. Even if you sketched and coloured it digitally beforehead.
Anyway, this is really beautiful. Not just the painting itself (by the way, I think it is great when you use that thin brush, even on this format; it adds a depth and entirety to the picture ), the colours, perspective and lighting, but the whole concept of the drawing. It really gives you an opportunity to think about our world, how it is and how it used to be... and wonder which is better and if one is better at all. As I said, great piece.
P.S.: I have no idea why, but that underwater world strongly reminds me of Atlantis. It's just the way I imagine that long-gone place... and when I look at the picture from this point of view, it gives a whole new, different and dream-like touch to it.

This is really well done! I like the concept of a completely hidden 'world' beneath the water and even the mechanic trees. For something drawn/made/painted 10 years ago, it's unbelievably incredible! Not saying that art back then wasn't but the thought of someone uploading things of this quality back around the early years of DA is pretty cool

It's good to do a lot of detail, even the kind no one cares to seek out. It makes the piece all the more believeable and amazing.
