Description This hawk has a wingspan of 2 feet, 4 inches (70 cm). It is made mostly from 9-gauge aluminum wire. Usually I try to make my sculptures as accurate as possible, I decided to be a little bit creative with the wings on this one. Hope you like it.

how do you bend the wire so neatly?

Well, It's aluminum wire so it's really soft to bend so that makes it easier. Otherwise it's just a combination of lots of practice and using a needle nosed pliers. To get any more specific than that would take a really long time to answer. Sorry if that wasn't the most informative.

This is really awesome. I love how you did the feathers. They turned out amazing and more realistic than I could think metal feathers would look like.

I really love the shape of the feathers and the way the wings are put together. The thing that amazes me about all your sculptures is the way you can strongly evoke organic forms while using fundamentally inorganic materials...just the way you put together different strands and coils of wire to look like feet or tendons or muscles. Here, the coiled wire at the top of the wings has the same look as the smaller layers of feathers that would be there on a real wing. Brilliant as always.
