Thanks! I do everything on a scroll saw. So, when I cut the piece I am beveling it at the same time. Takes a ton of practice and patience but it pays off as you can see. Volpin does it the same way you do. Cut it, and then bevel with a dremel sanding drum and cutoff wheel. So, it can work. My only tools are a drill press (not really mandatory) a 16" scroll saw, and a dremel. I move so much that I have to keep my shop uber small. How long is your m97? I scaled mine to 41 inches long.
If you need any prop help, let me know!

Mine scaled to around there, but i pushed the barrel in just a touch to meet 1 meter for the convventions prop rules. Are you on the RPF? my username is elro on there
Ive been looking at investing in a bandsaw or scroll saw - Pretty useful for just about anything xD Ive researched into bandsaws , but not so much scroll saws. Now knowing they can cut bevels I might look into one of them.... or both!!!

I see. so yours was around 37 to 38 inches before shrinking it? My username here is the same as everywhere. Yes, I'm on the RPF but I'm not that active there. I would definitely recommend the scroll saw if youre doing guns. The bandsaw is probably more useful for everything else.

Coming along very nicely man! Just wondering what you use to bevel your edges? When I built my guns, I was buying tools as I needed them since they were my first prop so funding for the project forced my to use other tools not exactly suited to the job (eg, my bevels were a dremel with sanding belt )
