Description
Often mistaken as a mutant, Calvin Rankin actually developed his superhuman ability to copy mutant powers after an accident at his father's laboratory. He tried to force his way onto the original team of X-Men while trying to find a way to steal their powers permanently, but they discovered his plan and he was kicked off the team. He later seemingly sacrificed himself in an attempt to stop a rampaging Hulk, but was discovered to have instead gone into a coma. After his recovery he tried to redeem his previous misdeeds, working alongside the X-Men and Excalibur. When Norman Osborn rose to power, Mimic was recruited into his own hand-picked team of 'X-Men', where he befriended Weapon Omega. After Osborn's reign came to an end and the team was disbanded, Mimic and Omega continued to travel together.
