Description
Dirk Garthwaite was a common thug and burglar until the day he broke into a hotel room being used by the Asgardian God Loki and stole Loki's helmet. The Norn Queen Karnilla, having struck a bargain with Loki to grant his extra power to defeat Thor, accidentally imbues Garthwaite with superhuman strength and durability and enchants his crowbar, transforming it into an unbreakable weapon and the key to Dirk's power.

Defeated by Thor, Dirk was sent to prison. During a breakout however, he was able to locate his crowbar and regain his powers. Gathering three of his friends together the four held the crowbar when it was struck by lightning, imbuing all four of them with superhuman power. The four would form the Wrecking Crew, and have continued their criminal activities and clashed with many superheroes.
