This is driving me crazy--would be an amazing shot, but something is happening toward the tops of the trees closest to the camera... something is going wrong there and I can't figure out what it is! Any guesses?Related content

It could have happened in post production. With autumn shots like these most photographers will increase saturation to get the colors to pop, but doing so can also deepen the shadows. Sometimes what I'll do is brighten just the shadows and/or dial down the brightness of the highlights to even it out and make it less noticeable. You can still increase the saturation some, but it's like walking a fine line to get it just right. The picture is still beautiful.

I was thinking the saturation might have something to do with it too. Our Fall colors are so weak this year, so I had to go a bit overboard... bleh.

THey are darker, but that is because they are the first to change color. Β THat grouping left of center, the tall trees have turned red, and most of the leaves end at about the same place the greener leaves on the tree behind start. That gives it a weird look if you don't realize its actually two tree groups.Β

are you referring to the sky shading toward white? or the darkness of the reflection in comparison to the rest of the sky?

The trees closest to the camera, up at the top... the leaves look darker than they maybe should? This is a common problem with my landscape shots. Drives me gonzo.
