Description
Some wondered about Gaster's metaphorical bonecage and how and when that started, and to an extent he's always put up walls between himself and others, he can't help it. Emotional intimacy is terrifying and embarrassing! But before the project got under way, Asgore and Toriel could wave their way past those walls without too much trouble. After it began he started shutting people out a lot harder and more actively and the whole mindscape sort of changed.He probably feels the most comfortable being healed by Alphys, actually. Back when he could heal , he was okay at healing her in return, but he was never a great healer by any means.

So why exactly did he lose the ability to heal?

It's kinda like a mental thing, when he started the project with the brothers, he spent most of that time killing his emotions to avoid forming an emotional (and parental?) bond with them, and he was trying to keep himself from regretting what he had started. It also kinda has to do with the way he naturally is, being an anti-social introvert. (The only reason I think hes as close as he is with Alphys and the Dreamurrs is because they kinda forced themselves onto him, but in a good way)Β
But yea, because he was killing his emotions, which seems to be like a power booster to their overall magic, he began loosing the magic that allowed him to "care".

YOUR WRONG I have read her entire tumplerΒ and I know the reason why Gaster can't heal is becauseΒ he split his magic between Sans and Papyrus that is why he doesn't have healing magic

Breaking down the walls donβt solve the issue, you have to figure out whatβs causing the wall to stop. That is Asgoreβs big mistake. And the more he does it, the more Gaster will withdraw. Alphys on the other hand takes her time, doesnβt try to break the barrier and gives the poor skeleton a chance to reach out. I think sheβs the only monster to ever really do this from what Iβve seen

I interpreted it a Gaster puts up walls while Alphys literally just hides from people. She reached him through the wall and he pulled her out of the shadows. Also possible that Alphys has a cloud of negativity about herself and Gaster pulls her out with affirmations of her scientific ability from a scientist she respects.
