Gaster didn't include this in the story he told Papyrus , but to be fair, I doubt he could tell anyone this.
Asgore isn't lying to his journal - as far as he knows, there really weren't any survivors. At least, none that he can remember now.
Remember when Papyrus got that scar ? Memories.

i like how asgore compares them to seedlings.
i think it shows what a fondness he has for plants.
it's details like this that make a story shine.

because gaster had the intention to go through his plans and he knew if he got attached to the brothers he would start doubting himself and would stop going forward which in gaster's mind would be a fail so he goes cold to not get attached and goes forward since the path he goes for i a path he believes he can't go back of

I love the strong contrast in the way Gaster and Asgore studied/observed the little brothers. Well, studied better fits Gaster.
And I love that you continued with that narration style. Love to see what's running through Asgore's mind.
I still feel bad for Gaster.
And I'm a little scared for the future. I don't know how it could happen....but if these brothers could see the truth one day, boy is that going to cause an issue. How will Papyrus react, I wonder.

It felt a bit obvious when that page was released since he was shaking the whole time during conversation and he must have blamed himself for getting his brothers killed.
