I wonder about where Alphys and Gaster got their doctorates. Like is there a monster university somewhere, or did the King and Queen give it to them, or did they find it in the garbage or steal it off a human's body, who knows.

There's probably enough material in the garbage dumps and enough monsters that wanted to seem smarter/better than the others...so it's entirely possible they did in fact get their doctorates (or the idea of them) from the humans.

this is why one needs to watch their back when it comes to the Doctor known as Gaster, I'm pretty sure him hitting that monster doesn't count as TLC
but it does seem that that bone had healing magic so I guess he still did help but I would still watch my back around him lol XD
and you talking about the Monster University, made me think of that Movie Monsters University I love that movie
and as for how Gaster and Alphys got their doctorates, I think maybe they could of found a old book that has to do with how to treat monsters maybe?

I personally head-canon that both Gaster and Alphys aren't real doctors, it's just titles they found and thought were cool. At least Gaster has the knowledge to back up his claim.

To be honest I would have done what he did in that situation.
