Description
FirstPreviously, maybe
Next, let's say
One way of putting it I suppose.
This one isn't directly connected to anything, but it'd fall at least after the whole eye business , and becomes rather poignant after Sans learns to heal . As always you can get a better sense of where it is chronologically by looking at it in the index .
This is probably the most civil these two have been to each other so far. The next couple may be more Sans-focused since he hasn't had much to do in this whole shebang just yet, haha.
I totally would have called this ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ if dev allowed it.

Sans, Gaster (c) Undertale: lucky he didn't actually rip it in half or your clever metaphor would've fallen apart

You hear that sans, Gaster created you and your brother quickly and without thinking.

I said that 'cause when Gaster tried to get his point across, he used the apology of ripping a piece of paper in half, quickly and without thinking.

Eh, considering that he wasn't sure if he wanted them to be sentient, or inherent the blue attack, I guess you can consider that he did make 2 errors/abominations

Well, while i'm thinking, they somewhat are opposites, but they still love eachother.

Who? the brothers and Gaster? Or just the brothers?

Just the Bros. Paps is tall, Sans is short. Sans' mature, Paps isn't. Sans is punny, not Paps. Etc.

Well they have to be, for two reasons; 1, that is how they are in the game, and 2, they have to be for it to be good storytelling. It would be boring if they had the same or similar personalities.

WARNING! Carry on reading! Or you will die, even if you only looked at the word warning!
Once there was a little girl called Clarissa, she was ten-years-old and she lived in a mental hospital, because she killed her mom and her dad. She got so bad she went to kill all the staff in the hospital so the More-government decided that best idea was to get rid of her so they set up a special room to kill her, as humane as possible but it went wrong the machine they were using went wrong. And she sat there in agony for hours until she died.
Now every week on the day of her death she returns to the person that reads this letter, on a monday night at 12:00a.m. She creeps into your room and kills you slowly, by cutting you and watching you bleed to death.
Now send this to ten other pictures on this one site, and she will haunt someone else who doesn't. This isn't fake. apparently, if u copy and paste this to ten comments in the next ten minutes u will have the best day of ur life tomorrow. u will either get kissed or asked out, if u break this chain u will see a little dead girl in your room tonight. in 53 mins someone will say i love you or im sorry

if Gaster hasn't been showing accidental little flashes of compassion, i'd think he tore up his soul and made the Skelebros' souls out of it

An alternate way this could've gone:
"why am i small and weak?"
"Rip this paper."
"okay."
"That's why. You're weak like paper."

I really like this explanation. It's not as heartless as the arm situation; quite contrary, I would say this explanation is one of the instances he shows he cares, without meaning to.

if i didn't know better, didn't notice his slips of emotion, i would think Gaster used his entire soul to create the Skelebros
emphasis on the word 'entire'

Personnaly that's my theory : maybe, by punching the 1st hole it took something like half of Gaster's original soul. Then, for the 2nd piece it took half of what was left, so one quarter of his soul.
Hell, maybe we could even consider his lack of empathy due to his lack of "SOUL matter"

MAYBE SANS CAME FROM THE QUARTER SOUL!!! AND THAT'S WHY HE IS WEAKER AND SMALLER THAN PAPY!!!

Wolfydawolf129 In reply to Kaegell [2016-12-30 19:59:53 +0000 UTC]
maybe, except his lack of empathy(actually i think it's sympathy but who cares) is because he thinks he can't go back to being good and he does his best to suppress it
not be a use he can't, but because he won't

That is the nature of ripping things into two pieces... no precision.
I get the impression that he wasn't just walking about the size of the brothers at that point. Was it self consolation for all of the ways he abuses them? Perhaps.

wow Gaster you compare artificially creating two monsters to quickly and without thinking ripping a piece of paper in half. Good job G. Ok this explains why sans is smaller than Papyrus, but why is sans so weak. And I don't just mean the 1 HP thing I also mean why only 1 AT as well.

Wolfydawolf129 In reply to NeverNowhere [2017-03-08 21:46:17 +0000 UTC]
personally, i don't think so because of 2 reasons, one practical and one depressing, practical first: if his attack and hp are 1 because of how weak he is, his defense should be affected
and a monster who feels worthless would feel he is not worth defending, and his defense stat would likely be affected by that
Sans is lucky to have 1 df instead of 0, honestly

I always get stuck on the fact that sans has the lowest stats. It bugs me, we know why most other monsters have their stats (I'm referring to the game) like toriel and Asgore are strong 'cause they are bosses monster, you can't hurt Mettaton cause his metal body, but nothing going explains sans.

Wolfydawolf129 In reply to NeverNowhere [2017-03-09 00:55:04 +0000 UTC]
i don't know whether this is canon or speculation(either way this is what i believe) but i'm pretty sure stats are tied to a monsters personality, and emotions, and stuff like that (it makes sense to me cuz monsters are made of magic, most of which is in their souls, and their souls are the source of their emotions, so their emotions would have a stronger impact on stuff like that) and Sans, in the canon of the game, has given up, he says so as a Lost Soul

NeverNowhere In reply to Wolfydawolf129 [2017-03-09 05:37:11 +0000 UTC]
sure that makes sense, but it still seems to be a bit harsh. I don't think he gave up on life, just trying to stop the resets, and 'cause that he has the lowest stats?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Wolfydawolf129 In reply to NeverNowhere [2017-03-09 19:20:21 +0000 UTC]
because he can't stop the resets, nothing he does has any impact, no matter what he eventually wake up, back to square 1, everything he did never happened and there is no escape
i think anyone in that situation would either be driven mad or give up entirely
although that's only actually if he knows about the resets, it's entirely possible that he just doesn't care and his stats are low cuz he's lazy, haha
or maybe he really feels he's not worth protecting, in fact keeping in canon w/ Zarla's stuff Sans is used to make Papyrus do things he doesn't want to, that he hates doing, i wouldn't be surprised if Sans hated himself because Gaster used him like that
man, i'm just a little ray of despair, haha

He doesn't make Papyrus do things that betrays his morals. It's just things that take Papyrus out of his comfort zone. Like eating at Grillby's.

i was referring specifically zarla.deviantart.com/art/Today… it's pretty heavily implied that Papyrus was forced to kill something, which is definitely against his morals

oh, yeah, but Gaster used Sans to do it and Sans would most likely feel guilty for(at least in my headcanons he definitely would)

NeverNowhere In reply to Wolfydawolf129 [2017-03-10 02:41:03 +0000 UTC]
I guess, but any guilt would be dwarfed by the rage towards Gaster for Gaster using him as hostage to make Papyrus betray his morals.
