To be totally fair and honest here, it hasn't been CONFIRMED which one is the elder one; it could very well be either one. Heck, they could be TWINS (then again, one of them would still be older than the other...not the point) Doesn't matter to me as long as I can see cute art like this!

Honestly I've always thought that Sans was the younger one. I don't know why, I guess maybe it's because of the whole "The smart younger brother who has a clumsy but kind older brother who he looks after while the older brother thinks he's looking after the younger brother" cliche, that or I'm just baised because I'm a younger sibling myself and Sans is my favourite. Small fan theory using your hand plates story.... These two (as this age difference) was still made how Gaster made them in hand plates. But the difference is, Sans sample (which was the second hand cut out) was put on reserve. Β
Papy didn't have anyone else to cling to after Gaster released him from the tube, and Gaster caved a lot sooner and decided to not give any of the physical or laser beam experiments on him, just the mental ones (which are like a typical school test). And Pap did MUCH better outside of the cell wherever Gaster went.
Soon Gaster created Sans to both see if it can be done again (from a more "damaged" sample), and to get some form of relief from Pap's never dying need for attention.

Unless you subscribe to the theory that HP is an acronym for HoPe, and that a serious enough lack of hope, such as the depression some believes Sans suffers from, can negatively impact a monster's HP. If that's the case, then he's probably MORE durable as a baby.Β
