Hey, remember way back when when I said something was afoot in the Core ?

jazaaboo designed the monster that falls, it's called a Pterofractl! |D It loves math and "inventing" and "solving" math problems, but actually knows nothing about even basic math and generally has no idea what it's doing most of the time. It’s a poor flier because it always gets too caught up in 'calculating' flight vectors and angles and parabolas and such, thus why it didn’t fly itself to safety.

I was originally going to use the mole in the hardhat from the Mettaton Hotel, but when I went and checked it was completely wrong for what I had in mind, so instead I used a really obscure cameo from an old Sierra game I’m willing to bet nobody has played, haha. If any of you recognize him I'll be very surprised.

Asgore is wearing one of his old beta outfits I saw in the art book for a change of pace. I'd get on Gaster's case for how stupid and pointlessly dangerous the Core's design is, but honestly it's not even as stupid and dangerous as the Lambda Core from Half-Life, and those scientists didn't even have magic as an excuse.

I've been a blue-collar grunt for most of my working life. This is legit! Also, Ice Wolf would probably make a good CORE worker. Well, except he exudes an outdoorsy vibe.

Note: I used to work in a lab environment that looked just like Alphys's lab. Same color scheme and everything. It was the sterile lab of an orthopedics plant (the term "clean room" refers to the room in between the lab and the main floor where we gear up). Also, I used to work in a book bindery. At one point, I had a supervisor who was a lot like Alphys. She was always worried that she was coming across as rude when she gave us orders, but I always reassured her that we liked being given clear and direct instructions. There's a difference between that and having a bossy attitude. So I was always able to ease her anxiety. I also had an Alphys-like teacher when I was in middle school. We'd nerd out together on classic X-Files lore. It was awesome.

They will never know, for the people that fall in are erased from memory and time.
So, does that mean whenever someone falls in, a power surge happens?

Perhaps it is, if so, man a lot of monsters have already fallen in

What if a parent falls in? Or even both? Will their children never wonder how they came into existence?

Bluphenyx In reply to NHarmonik [2018-06-02 21:08:48 +0000 UTC]

There's a reason why this is called "What they call foreshadowing"... After Gaster falls in the core, Sans and Papyrus forget what he was, except for strange nightmares they can't put their finger on. I don't think they question often how they came into existence after the first few... uhh, idk. But point is, they don't question it afterwards.

FangedSword In reply to NHarmonik [2018-02-18 12:25:23 +0000 UTC]

That question is getting answered later on.....

And the answer is yes. Yes they will wonder how they came into existence. They'll know they know things, but not understand or realize how they know them.

NHarmonik In reply to FangedSword [2018-02-18 16:03:15 +0000 UTC]

Having read the whole thing, this rather disturbs me. I wonder how grandparents and grandchildren who have lost children and parents respectively would feel. Would they wonder how they seemed to have skipped a generation?

I think I still have that game somewhere...

Oh, and cool comic! I know nothing about Undertale, but I like your depiction of the characters and the lively dialogue!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jirvey In reply to Azalea12 [2017-11-19 10:08:18 +0000 UTC]

Because when you fall into the Core you get erased. It doesn't really 'exist' anymore. That's why it's name also disappears from the sign-in sheet it's writing on after it falls.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Azalea12 In reply to Jirvey [2017-11-19 14:03:59 +0000 UTC]

Oh okay-
But, they have the fire like head now, but not AFTER they fall...

Jirvey In reply to Azalea12 [2017-11-19 14:21:36 +0000 UTC]

Gaster has the fire head NOW, he doesn't fall for many more pages.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Azalea12 In reply to Jirvey [2017-11-19 14:29:54 +0000 UTC]

The page is already out.
(I'm just wondering why do it before he falls)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jirvey In reply to Azalea12 [2017-11-19 15:09:15 +0000 UTC]

For the same reason that Gaster is blacked out before he falls;
We're seeing this from a future perspective and he is erased so no one can actually remember him.
That's also why in the MercyPlates version he has no lost-soul head because he never gets erased.

The point is that if you just put in some safety rails or hadn't traumatized papyrus about using blue magic you wouldn't have fallen in the core.
