Spoilers: it does. Another benefit to doing these out of order! I totally referenced the final battle in Earthbound too, score.
This would probably be the first time they've seriously fought about something or raised their voices at each other. They're scared and in pain and aren't really handling this very well. No one is happy with this.
(Gaster isn't handling it very well either, not that he's going to admit it)
If you really want to feel bad, a lot of their conversation still applies if they were talking about you the Player, haha.

There aren't really very many good English onomatopoeias for really deep long gasps, that's what the first GGGHHHH noise is meant to be. Hopefully that came across? Oh well.

Ok. I'm done crying. So, this is really interesting. I am extremely curious about what happened Gaster so he could think like this. And whatever it was it must of happened a lot like fighting or torture. Leading to him thinking its him to be so ok and talking like it's normal. And nice expressing emotions in sans and Papyrus I was crying before this comment.

Gaster's just doing what he thinks he needs to do to save the underground, even if we know it won't work.
Every time I see the skeletons showing either pain or affection towards Gaster, I can see his pain being dragged out. Seeing them in pain hurts him, and seeing them try to be friends with G hurts him when he needs to turn away.

Because the Paragon in me IS AN ETERNAL FLAME, BABY! The mere THOUGHT of hurting another character (despite being real or not) was enough to turn my stomach, and that's why I love the skeleton brothers the most. I'm interested to see how this plays out, presumably since a child like Frisk appeared in one of the earlier comic strips.

Practically used a full box of smokes and Gaster STILL has the shakes. Geez is that guy messed up.
One question, though. If Sans is extremely frail, and his attack and defense are practically nothing like in the game, then wouldn't the damage to his hand have killed him? In one of the comics that take place after this one, Gaster almost taps his arm with a bone to get Papyrus to kill. How would DRILLING through his hand be any different?

He did Papyrus first to see how much damage the drill would do, then adjusted how he did it with Sans afterwards to take it into account, haha. As long as a single screw didn't do more than 1 HP, he could heal him in between each one to keep him alive.
