Description
The Nejeian Weapons are crafted by the Neldius , a species of merfolk who live in the sea-kingdom of Aquilum. They are the fourth species created to give life back to the planet by the ocean goddess Quara. For them all things are viewed as expressions of artistic design; even their weapons reflect their love of art, specifically painting. To complete their design three materials were chosen: shell, coral, and pearl.

The weapons get their name from the Nejeian shell used heavily in their crafting. Found in the seabeds around Aquilum, the brightly colored shell was chosen for its malleability and sturdiness. The colors of the shell, green, orange and blue are symbolic of their scholarly values. Lush and earthy green, the color of growth, represents the sciences. Brilliant orange, the color of the sun represents government and law. Calm and soft blue, the color of the ocean and sky, represents creativity and the arts.

Muran Coral is used for many of the handles; its smooth texture is easy and comfortable to wield. While many other smooth corals exist, Muran was chosen because the color purple, majestic and heavenly, represents divinity and religion. Dianth Coral, was selected not only for its color, but also the ease with which it can be fused to provide support and strength. Pink, gentle and kind, represents medicine and knowledge. It can also grow in shell-like formations.

The final component are Dadai Pearls. These rosy-orange pearls where chosen first as purely decorative pieces. However, it was later discovered they have strong magical properties that enhance stability of things made with and/or from them. They are also used in jewelry crafting, brush making, even as a canvas to paint on.
