Description I don’t like this picture, but I don’t want people to nag me and say "post some more 218". The colors have changed, but the combination of V 160 (now class 218) and type n carriages (also known as Silberlinge, from the time when they were unpainted) itself has remained more or less constant for decades. It is what those who use that term might call "old school".

Personally, I am not a fan. Sure, it is nice to take pictures of, but less convenient and more noisy than more modern trains. No air conditioning, doors that really take force to open, it is really not suitable for modern times anymore. How long the trains will remain on the Hanover-Bad Harzburg line is anybody’s guess, given that there are no DMUs that can really replace it (class 612 sometimes-tilting DMUs are just too few, while class 648 DMUs are not fast enough). We’ll see.

I like this, not just because the old school engine, but also because of the mood. I only wonder - as the engine looks sharp to me - if the motion blur isn't hot air coming from the engine, as at the back, everything is equally blurred, train and background.

Hm, no, I think not. As you can see, the tracks in front of the locomotive are blurred as well. The rest of the train moves in a somewhat different direction due to the curve, which I think explains why it is blurred as well. The hot air probably has some influence as well, but it cannot explain it all.

Thank you for the !

Actually, I don’t like it. I thought it was too subtle to be recognizeable as motion blur, it just makes the picture seem less sharp than it actually is.

Thank you for the s!
