"Hey!" Pinstripe appeared out of nowhere, tackling the kangaroo's tail before he could launch a third kick at Joe's head. His support taken out from under him, the ‘roo crashed onto his back, narrowly missing landing on Pinstripe who rolled out of the way to the very edge of the dock.

"Whatsa big idea bub? Don'cha know friend from foe?" Pinstripe scrambled to rise before the ‘roo did, his paws scrabbling for purchase on the slippery deck. On all fours, he circled the roo, putting himself between the angry kanga and Joe before rising to his feet.

"Pinstripe Potoroo!" The ‘roo chuffed as he rocked back to its feet, rocked menacingly, raising its paws in a boxing stance and spit for good measure. "You siding with the crocs now? I always knew you were trouble."

Joe winced, closing his eyes and bracing himself, sure that the irate ‘roo would be able to send both Pinstripe and him flying with his powerful kick. Nothing happened.

“For the love of - I ain't’ with them!” Pinstripe yelled.

Somehow he'd found his revolver again and was pointing it at the ‘roo.

Wasn't it out of bullets? Well, no matter. Joe was able to carefully get to his feet as Pinstripe defended him. It gave the cold reptile a warm feeling.

“Oh, and that’s why you have a croc at your back?” The ‘roo snorted. “Quit hiding behind that weapon and fight like a mammal!” He punched the air with his fists.

“That’s komodo to you, wise guy!” Pinstripe snarled. “It ain’t the same thing at all!”

Joe rolled his eyes. As if Pinstripe had known any better when they had first met.

"A likely story!" The 'roo snarled back.
