Description
These three studios have been rocking it from the very beginning and with this series of portraits, I want to show how much happier I am having played their games.
Shortly after picking up a pencil, I picked up a video-game controller. Of course, back then I had no idea how to recognize, imagine or illustrate the things I now love. But it's going on all these adventures that have taught me how. And now I get to make my own fun. And this might be some of the most fun I've ever had drawing.
I mean, look at Spyro's chunky eyebrows - THEY'RE SO CHUNKY! >U<

Aw nice! I admit - never actually played it myself. But I'm a big Sucker Punch fan, so I'll keep a look out for it.

Definitely man, itβs pretty rare and high priced, was lucky enough to get my copy with its manual for $30 back in 2011.

Whoa, with the manual. Great find. Good to know it's out there at least.

Another classic from the early platformer era - Rocket: Robot on Wheels. Which is what Sucker Punch started with before moving on to Sly Cooper.

From what I see in an earlier post, it's called Rocket, from a game called Robots on Wheels.

Aw sweet - thanks! Yep, I think he's my favorite too - which is surprising to me, given how rarely I draw reptiles. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―

In. Deed. So much fun to draw - although Toys for Bob rendered him so perfectly in the Reignited trilogy, that it was a challenge to not just copy their version.

That's Sucker Punch's first game on the N64 - Rocket, Robot on Wheels. It's definitely less known, but I wanted to include something from each studio's history.

Aw, thanks so much! That's so cool to hear. The approach is actually really similar to these classic games, with their low-polygon 3D models - to only use curves when it feels necessary. It's heaps fun to do.

Ahhh I see, it makes sense now! It makes a beautiful style when used in drawings

Yeah, haven't played it myself either. But I'm sure it's got just as much nostalgia for someone out there. :J

Oh, really cool to hear you appreciate him! I actually didn't know about it until recently - but I wanted to honor each studio's journey equally. Especially if Rocket was the kicking off point for Sly (which is my jam).

I recognize Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, but not the first one. Other than that, this looks really cool!

Aw, thanks so much! That first one is "Rocket: Robot on Wheels", Sucker Punch's first game for the N64. And yeah, since it was a different console, it rolled by a lot of people (me included ).

That's "Rocket" from Sucker Punch's first game, Robot on Wheels. It was in the same vein and era as Crash and Spyro but was actually on the N64.

Aw thanks! Even though they're quite stylized, I was definitely going for a kind of tangible look. That's awesome to hear.
